88e 6.555p to buy. @Dai do we think it will be 1p once drill main targets?

@Dai a quick case research for M & G.
Stock is down 14.08% over last 5 days.
This is creating a dividend yield of 10.70% ( it was slightly over 8% before recent drop in SP).
Australian financial titan Macquarie plots a £5bn takeover bid as Schroders also considering a bid to create a £1tn asset manager group.
CEO is determined to slash £200m of costs over next 2 years and says he wants to deflect any bid approaches with organic growth and stressed that although profits had fallen by a quarter to £529m this had actually beat expectations by 11 per cent, during a time high volatility.
I am only looking for a 10% return if i invested now before selling out but if I was to get trapped then the dividend yield reduces the stress somewhat. I'm hovering over the buy button but just have a feeling there may be a few per cent extra to be gained by holding out. My dilemma I know but this one is my usual type investment strategy so will keep a close eye on it. DYOR and GLA with all your investments Swissy.

Also @Dai the 2 banks are very different i.e. Lloyds domestic loan and mortgage market and will be affected by UK performance whereas Barclays are more international investment based which may add some risk exposure but in the past I have noticed how they are able to capitalise on rapidly moving markets (in both directions) as that is their business. I feel that both may have some upward movement potential from current prices but DYOR. Swissy

Of course you would be buying Barclays Ex dividend right now so that may have pushed the price down a little further than it would have but as soon as it is paid out (end on this month i think) then share will hopefully rise a little (or not!)

The thing is @Dai, most of our profit this year has come from the 100 index in my partners account. She knows nothing about the stock markets but just does what I recommend to her. She isn't a huge risk taker so I pick over sold stocks for a quick few £100's profit but if it stagnates for a few months she reaps in some dividends while it recovers and doesn't stress.
I'm just watching M&G at the moment and trying to find out my entry point as it is down today. Others that made us money in the past few months were Avon Protection when its military grade protection helmet failed US Military testing and people pilled out on the day and I think it dropped by 40%. If you looked at their business strategy a) the new helmet was only a small part of the business activity . b) They were going to modify the design to fulfil US Military requirements. Once the market realised its over reaction it bounced back and 30% was for the taking in 24 hours and with tight spreads you bag most of what you see. Anyway don't dismiss the higher indexes as I know multi bagging is the dream but regular smaller profits are entertaining. Cheers Swissy

Cheers @Dai, I think I have enough shares waiting at the moment since venturing into AIM i.e. QFI and HE1 along with others. I used to play The FTSe 100 only and think I will bottom draw my AIM shares for now and venture back there. Yes you generally have to use larger sums but with tight spreads can play around for 3-5% profit margins on a weekly basis and it builds up nicely over time. With a modest amount of research and just by following say 10 shares on the top 100 you soon get a picture when a share is over sold with not enough business activity change to justify it and the price very often bounces back with 24-48 hours. Aston Martin holdings must be a highly traded share with weekly swings in sp of 7% plus and it just goes around in cycles and it isn't too difficult to catch. Anyway I'm not buying into 88e but watch it regularly so I can give you a thumbs up when oil shoots 100ft in the air uncontrollably. Cheers Swissy.

H@ Dai, my partner managed to jump out of Rolls Royce at the top and purchased a few Barclays shares at 8% down although it fell a little bit further by close. She only plays footsie 100 and he can see her blowing me out of the water this year.
I have been watching 88e with interest and to learn more about AIM mining stocks and it has completely foxed me as there was no spike after spud and could have bought at 0.65 at one point yesterday. What are the thoughts form those invested and are you holding out hoping it rises before TD or waiting for a discovery. I must admit that I almost bought in but would have been doing it on reaction rather than a well researched approach. I really hope 88e rises soon for you guys as I thought it would myself. @Dai, yes thank you, it was a lovely trip to see partners family in Austria. It was 16C and was feeling like spring in the air but just like our portfolio's that can all change in a few days lol.

Wow just landed back in the country and despite the chill not a bad day to return. QFI up 22.36%, GENI up 16.67%, Roll Royce up 23.42% but oh yes there is always a downer HE1 down 0.93%.
Great news from QFI but was really hoping for trail results not delivery of fuel but at least going in right direction. I think the directors had options at 3p soon if my memory is correct so obviously desperate to get the price moving there, coupled with a lot of pressure from investors for updates. I can remember when QFI SP would go to 5p on news of tar sand extracts being delivered from UTAH for primary testing and the biggest debate was that the pallet the barrels were strapped to looked like it wasn't fit to survive the journey lol. Have we moved on from that.....well just about! GENI keeps progressing nicely with regular 15% rises as I have hoped but HE1 still look set for a long wait yet. I understand the cost savings on the rig share but I don't like the added complications of being involved with Noble's time frames and related funding requirements. Anyway stay positive Swissy its a positive day. I have still been tempted to press go on a small purchase into 88E but not clearly defined the upside from current SP. Is there a risk related to the ice pad being constructed for the rig or is this not really a concern?

Thanks for that detail Dai as I haven't dipped into 88e but did consider it as surely there is a return from todays price if rig is delivered promptly. You have become far more active on daily share trends over the past few months which I guess is something that has materialised or rather strengthened with being lured in by DM in HE1. If you had been this direct and analytical during the past year with HE1 sp then you could have made a lot of money. So perhaps your new found strength is one good thing to come out of being a HE1 Long termer as it has altered my decision making completely, so I wish you all the luck with 88e and beyond. @ Kevinround The thing with such a small free float and funding in place until year end'ish it doesn't take a lot volume to lift the price 5-10% or more such as today. It shot up from a low of around 8p earlier this year on news of our CLIA lab opening in USA by 150% in one day. It only pulled back 10-15% from that with profit taking and has clawed all of that back and more since. The BB won't excite you as some others do with stories an Bulls--t but only news when it is needed followed by SP reaction. Anyway good luck with research and if you have an investor company meet account look them up as the presentations are full of details and timelines. GLA Swissy.

You are not on your own Dai wanting to believe in DM's exciting stories as it stopped me putting a few more £K into Geni @8p at the time and I regret that immensely. I thought we were bound to have a rig organised by now and was hoping to flip profits from HE1 back into Geni but not to happen. Anyway a walk sounds good so leave the screen and clear the mind. Geni is rising steadily now on what seems no news! However there are so many people with industry knowledge in our numerous clinical collaborations in the USA that understand the our offerings and using them for research that the word is bound to be spreading. I really think that a steady climb back to IPO sp of 40p could readily be achieved in a few months as news flow arrives and beyond that......who knows? Only my opinion but what a management team and world class collaborations this really is placed for success. A big statement I know but I have been a believer for some time now. Wow DM leaves HE1 as CEO and Lorna steps up as CEO. How todays market will respond is difficult to predict but longer term this has to be positive. Spend some cash Lorna and secure a rig and become our hero. GLA we may need it. Cheers Swissy.

Hi @Dai and @ KRound, I have been watching your comments on 88e and was wondering if I have missed the boat already or should seek a better price than todays with usual AIM fluctuations. Don't have a lot of time at present for my own detailed research but would appreciate your thoughts.

Invictus RNS out and suggests thatRig 202 is now warm stacked and having repairs and upgrades done so that drilling can commence as soon as possible determined by longleaf well services supplies. They haven't given a specific date for spud yet but they do seem to want to get on with things as quickly as possible! I'm still not convinced that we should wait for this rig to be released and really hope that there are positive alternatives as whois to say that they won't raise and extend the drilling campaign and hold onto the rig again. Looking forward to some possible good news from DM. Patience required GLA Swissy.

@Dai I would love to consider the 88e share but only have 2 miners in my holding and both take constant watching to monitor movements and I have to learn a lot more about the sector before further investment and understanding the absolute risk factors applying to it.
