Uk growth for April was helped by being driven by a rebound in pubs and bars.

I see no scare mongering required and the longer the wait the longer we have time for additional routes being added, with any additional airlines returning to Southend. It would be good to see Wizz Air there to be honest. Ryan Air I saw were also looking into additional routes. So fingers crossed for some more announcements soon in addition to Easy jet and the RAF return announcements.

When I last looked last years results were issued in August so no delay. Whilst clients are returning to Southend Airport and last reports/ releases from the BIO Mass division show increased profit numbers for the rest of the year I see no reason to bring anything forward.

Southend Echo as well as other media such as in the Aviation news report RAF have returned to be based at Southend Airport for this years displays in the Southeast (with the select Red Arrows division at first), and Easy have said they are adding new flights very soon, whilst extending into Winter the new Euro Capital City flights such as Amsterdam.

I can see as both divisions are now going to produce increased numbers and there is no need to sell and with additional interest was being reported in both Divisions we should see the share NPV improve with the longer term security of the Company. We just need to be patient as unfortunately the low share price makes it volatile and ideal for small value day traders who have more of an impact whilst not complying with 30 day rules! GLA. DYOR.

Thunder agree with you. I hold Whitbread as well and they have been doing very well. If they for instance want to suddenly acquire another 1,000 plus establishments locally to a client base, then what an opportunity. Sad as I say it we will be gone very soon to another opportunist at these silly prices I am sure.

Unless this is a tactical play and then we could go to a Management buy out or venture Cap? We will find out soon I am sure.

It is only old fogies like me that like real ale, most young'uns prefer Lager particularly in hotter weather where Marston has seen sales increases. Give them some credit.

Hopefully the weather is turning warmer for a while now, and both pub and off sales at home will do well the partnership mis also showing some ambition and perhaps we can see a higher contribution from the JV to overall group sales.

Looks like in the Aviation news more routes are being considered for Southend Airport such as the popular Southend to Jersey route, which worked so well previous pre-pandemic, as well as some additional Winter routes to compliment the recent new routes to Paris and Amsterdam.

Should prove interesting as we hope to get another announcement very soon.

Fed next week will open a few eyes and we should always respond with Dovishness! Looks like last jobs no. showing jobless pay roles increasing helps too, as it would appear the dep. gov. indicated a pause in rate rises when he last spoke? Doubt if the US gov. want to borrow at higher rates either. Trend line still up for year for precious metals.

Looks like from what I can read the Carlsberg Marston joint venture responsible for the Distribution of beers previous produced by Heineken under license from 1st June (7 days ago) such as Kronenbourg 1664 will also be packaging from 2024 themselves and will also be distributing to all of Heinekens owned UK Establishments as well as the supermarkets. Opportunities exist to open up to a greater range with some Spanish beers in the future too. This will certainly help and grow the Carlsberg & Marston joint venture, whilst also helping Heineken with economies of scale/distribution. GLA.

The deal starting 7 days ago will include Kronenbourg 1664 benefitting the Marston and Carlsberg Joint venture and will help those who prefer Lager to real ale, being the younger generation. see link below :-

There seems to be some confusion here. Home consumption and that supplied to non Marston Establishments will be coming in from the Carlsberg Marston Partnership (where Mars have a minority share) not from their own pubs which they own. Ale has to be kept well to be appreciated which is why it is worth visiting one of their own pubs!

Most also fail to realize that because of the trends towards Lagers particularly with younger clients, the Carlsberg Marston Partnership have also recently taken on Heineken distribution too. There is no way I would invest in the Mitchell Butler business where the profit return per share for the last yr end a/c was greater with Marston. Mitchells Butlers also have large debt to service too, and like Wetherspoons customers are still trying to navigate through train strikes to get to their city establishments. Marston will start to benefit from hotter weather to their own establishments, as well as their home sales from the JV which includes supermarket sales! Have seen much in Supermarkets from MB or Wethers!!

We should respond very soon! I see a no. of reasons for this. i.e. China cutting rates, suggestion USA to stall increases, and USA Tech rising causing extra demand for precious metals. Time will tell if the rally holds but looking good so far! Fingers crossed. GLA.

Soon we should also see if the Fed is going to stall (as many expect on rate rises too) as China in fact lowers rates for growth! Interesting!

I did hear that earlier in the year some RAF guys were over at Southend Airport looking at making use of the facilities longer term and they had in mind the possibility of making it a first line defence for London. For the "Arrows" to be based there it might be a first but small step in having the Red Arrows based there for a while to see how it goes?

More good news for the longer term with some prestige!

Sharps - worth a read from the recent management releases, etc. They have over 1400 pubs, the management have said some that have reported most of their trade during the day, or early evening (maybe family pubs) and can close early at quiet periods to save costs, where business is light. Others may be busier in the evenings and will stay open longer but the Managers at each location will have the ability to make decisions. It makes sense. Warmer weather will help now all of the establishments and home drinking especially with an FA Cup final. Train strikes will affect Marston less (who have locals) rather than other groups reliant on trains that are set in towns. Maybe have another drive on the same route earlier or at the w/end after the FA Cup! Or it could be the pubs mentioned are already sold? GLA.DYOR.

Low share price will make this share volatile and they are only a 1/3rd of the NPV on sentiment. Last Results were "only" up to 1/4/23 (quietest time with no benefit of summer sales). We should expect growth throughout the summer and we see they have reported positive cash "inflows" now to change help the results be positive. I regret they said sales are back to normality (they should as defined this as pre-pandemic) as they have recovered -but they didn't - so I see a set of results being played down. I may be wrong but dyor. this is what I see up until April. They will have tax benefits with plant purchases this tax yr where they are fully tax deductible, they want sales growth to be double any debt :-

They issued a statement to say they felt EU rates would still rise based on their inflation, I see this as a way to try and raise their currency. However we are talking small amounts now anyway. Uk Rates are in the same position although Food inflation is slightly down. I am just being patient whilst the sun is out we will be making good sales. Also I read an article to say less people will go abroad this year (up to a 1/3 less) and this will help summer sales too. I may even buy some more soon looking at this as an opportunity!
