Insurance Policies vary in cover.15 Dec 2018 23:43
Pat, I think you may have missed my point. If Acacia have suffered a loss this does not mean it was them who caused it. Infact most covers will cover them for actions of someone else. This is what their release said. However, Acacia has been in contact with the SFO about the allegations of corrupt activities in Tanzania which are the subject of proceedings in Tanzania
They may have coverage in place for this if a loss is suffered which may well bolster the balance sheet, but Insurers will insist that they notify the Police in the same way as a Householder would be expected to do so if they had a break in. I therefore feel you do not understand the various types of cover that they will have. Shareholders could well benefit if they do have an Insurance loss, especially if it has affected the value of the Company and or a loss of stock. However it could also be that an individual will be arrested too, and or could become accountable, or was over stating. They do not have to be employed by Acacia but the SFO might have limited powers in a foreign Country unless the person/ parties concerned were conducting activities or committing the offence in the Uk? I am sure we will hear more about this in the future.
