H- I agree the price should be a lot higher but the price needs to be considered after due diligence and for that to be honest and true Barrick need to be honest with us that a deal is agreed with GOT and that the price needs to reflect that fact now and the only risk factor if Barrick take us over is for them. After all they do not have to take us over, and if they want to avoid an International Arbitration then we should actually be paid a premium for giving up our rights to action. not less. The price cannot be agreed until this full disclosure process has been undertaken in my opinion but the contracts in place are worth a lot more than they have offered (it is even disclosed as such in their own books!!).

Dimi- even better news and that could be another reason to lower rates. i.e. To encourage growth.

I don't blame them at all for stake building when you look at the price of Gold in USD on the 5 year we are up 5.69% BUT when you look at GBP for the 5 year we are up a whopping 40.07% which lets face it is unbelievable. What a 5 year return which rules out any stupid Barrick offer.

Release today says Morgan Stanley financial advisers to Acacia Purchased 140,323 and sold 123,614 and so they are stake building with the prices showing they can sell for a greater price than buy, and you can see how they make money. If people would not sell the price would rise quite quickly. They obviously want your shares and can see the potential here to make a lot of money as they are no fools.

Agree chaps. I am not a greedy man but just want a fair return and fair offer price.

I hope the GOT understand the good work Acacia have and are doing for the local communities and why the Management would not want to talk to them whilst they hold key staff in detention. They will find if the approach is fair and a hand is held out in friendship sometimes in business one can get more in return.

If we are going to get into a formal dispute the normal way is to wait until one is on the court steps and so I would not expect an early settlement unless Barrick come up with an increased offer or if we have a Chinese Takeaway. However the indication for a first offer (thought not formally submitted) gives a low underpinned price and therefore we have some protection and Yes I am also very surprised by anyone selling at this low price. I said we would make £2 in three weeks, but it might now take a week or two longer but it does look as if Gold is back in vogue and the dollar is not now looked upon as the safe haven in has been in recent years. Like you Franky I see the possibility of Gold moving up even further and this will make Acacia a sound investment long or short term. It would be a good time for mining to start outside of Tanzania if the BOD of Acacia are watching us on this board. Some would like the Company to keep going in some form and to stay on the LSE, unlike with what happened to Randgold. P-I respect your views and wish you luck for the future. I find the reports difficult to understand/ conflicting even when the Acacia year end report sent to me in the post refers to what a good relationship the firm has in the Country and particularly by sponsoring many projects for the local communities over the past year, but clearly the Barrick offer to the GOT is far more generous than what Acacia have previously agreed with their signed contracts in place. However legally Acacia will have to protect their interests and those contracts which their shareholders have found a good enough reason to buy shares in the Company and although Aca have said they would prefer a compromise solution the offer from Barrick is not that fair (lets be honest). I will await further direction from Acacia but see the so called shorters reducing their stakes and the rising Gold price can only help us here. We are only 8 days away from the AGM before which I am sure we will have a progress report, or a formal offer from Barrick which will hopefully be more in keeping with a fair offer based on the fact that some of us minority shareholders have been long suffering here too, based on information that needs to be accurate and fair and which will have influenced many such as myself into purchasing the shares in the first place.

Plus Gold price up again tonight and Gold in GBP is now up 7.85% for the year!!

The shorts still hold a small share that they still need to close off and so we could still go up from here if they do and with further support.
I see Shares magazine has us leaning towards a strong buy with broker consensus up too.

Interestingly the link continues as we have always suspected :- Blackrock announce a small reduction in their financial instruments and shorts and MW also announce a reduction in theirs shorts too on the same day.

Perhaps this shows what they suspect to be an increased offer price? Perhaps better news is on its way, and MW has received your letter/email?

Also could see a very Dovish Fed, many analysts project a rate cut soon. Certainly no rise for some time which will help. Gold is certainly more in demand and being looked upon again as a safer haven.

Amazing the Gold rise, and Bloomberg report the commodity is in vogue with more now buying as a safe haven than previously. The price could keep rising at this rate and must help Acacia whatever happens. Everyday Gold rises the commodities held in the containers will be worth more.
If they say no news is good news then I can wait and only 9 days to the AGM.
Also if the G.O.T say its now up to Barrick to take over Acacia then the deal MUST be signed by Barrick and the G.O.T.!!!!\\\\\

If we are to mirror their price we should also see gains continuing. Well hopefully anyway. It is looking like the offer price for Acacia is going to fail at this rate.

Gold still rising chaps, this will help Barrick fund an increased offer for us. Also expect Barrick shares to rise today which will help us further in any swap/offer deal.

Fidelity have said they will oppose the offer from Barrick which they say should be doubled. The article also says they hold 3.2% and only 4% is required to block a compulsory deal, and only 18% to stop a delisting.

Lets hope the rising Gold price continues but one side of my Brain is concerned we are being set up not to accept
the deal and then the GOT get more upset and take more action and then Barrick get us even cheaper?

If so and if this occurs I hope this is looked upon as manipulation and appropriate action is taken if deemed necessary.

In the meantime yes great with the Gold price rising, this share was one of my few that did go up today and what with all of the uncertainty in the World as said it could continue to go up for some time yet. It always used to at times like this in the good old days.

I wonder if this will affect Barrick and the relationship they have with their own Chinese Partners?

I can see the Gold price will help us both today (Acacia and Barrick to be fair). some are talking it could be moving a lot higher from here too, I hope so. All the best.

BB-a couple of thoughts. Remember some are in a position of holding a large number of shares before the dispute, and therefore their needs may be more than your suggestion?
Also as a businessman as you know if you ask for 2 you will get 1.5. (but then you may have allowed for this?).
They will have political risk insurances to insure their holding Company, its associates and Holding Companies. He may be taking advice from these very same people to provide a cheap close, and it may not actually cost Barrick anything (apart from increased premiums for next year).
Politically the climate might change if we have some feedback from Acacia who have advised all shareholders to hold. The Chinese might be interested in a counter price if the Barrick price is not improved. We await their formal offer after their casting of a suggestion with no formality. Being more forceful some shareholders may even consider they have been mislead (which you may have in fact said more eloquently than what I can offer).
No mention or premium is being referred to for the interests outside of Tanzania where major discoveries have been made in other African Countries. Good luck.

$5000 an oz are you sure?

Lat night and early this morning we had enough buys to show a shortage on the LSE, and so if only other minority shareholders would hold I am sure the price here would rise. I regret part of what MB has said with support from the GOT (whether they change their opinion with the witch Doctor is unknown) has scaremongered some into selling.

Like many have said here we need something from Acacia but they must be flat out looking into all the aspects, including all of the RNS messages from those institutions holding a share.
