Boris has a point as it might encourage all those builders and window cleaners , etc who don't pay any anyway to come clean and reduce the dole queues? I remember in our local sailing community my Father-in-saying the local authority encouraged the new speed boats on the river, and when I said why he said it was the only way to get the builders to pay taxes, I said on the new Boats he said no they only keep those for the summer on the never never and then hand them back in the winter, but they have to pay VAT on their fuel and the big speed boats were burning at least 5 gallons an hour - nice one!! Sometimes different methods are called upon to get to the same result. Gold up tonight maybe we will pay taxes after all.

Why not, this will mean the rich will spend more money into the economy, rather than give it to a govt to waste and give opportunities to those who currently do not have it. The problem for people with money rather than pay tax they find ways of taking it out of the economy (i.e. invest more into their pension schemes TAX FREE). I regret to say the days of the Conservatives and Labour party are almost gone. I see independents and the Brexit party making them both look silly if we did have an election. Time will tell. My local council elections caught our council out when they lost most of their traditional party reps. I think the Uk is ready for a period of change.

Hi A, Yes I used to trade 8-10 years ago the miners as safety stocks I bought Acacia when they were African Barrick Gold and worth a lot more than today's price. It was the same for Hochschild. The market used to say on the FTSE you bought ABG for Gold (as the highest producer and HOC for Silver as the largest Silver producer. I must confess I made enough money to just do that for a living and found I could make as much money buying/selling shares than commuting up to London. I thought I would invest in Acacia and Hochschild as safe havens when Brexit was found to be in favour, and so it is interesting that now the whole situation is coming into picture for conclusion the shares are coming back in the miners. Maybe was right afterall. The only thing I did not forsee were the problems for Acacia that lets face it they did well to keep it all under their hat for sometime before it all became broadcast. If I had known of the problems for Aca 3 years ago then I would not have invested, so there could be a liability there which I hope Barrick's actions of reward to Acacia shareholders will correct, if you follow me.

As this is a Business page I will say get rid of the Politicians have a committee formed of business people to find a solution. Lets conduct a due diligence, lets see the accounts. Lets see all of our depts and what they offer. i.e. Wales, Scotland, etc, etc then decide what votes they have, as if they were shares. lets get on the committee the bosses of the Top companies who employ the most staff in the Uk. Or those most affected. Then lets see the EU accounts and so on. I am sure we can then come to a compromise, or as I have already suggested "pure reciprocal agreements". -Its simple without Politics.

They can't even make a decision collectively for themselves, let alone the Country. I see you worked in Local Govt. that explains a lot. To give you an idea it has taken me over two years to get a house extension to look after my two disabled relatives. They have no idea at all. I have spent more time on that than trying to feed my family. Two local councillors said they had been on site and refused permission because they were in with my next door neighbour. All they do is to put themselves first. At least Boris is putting the Country first and trying to get us out of a hole. I have lost all faith in politics and prefer to listen to the business news and how it is affected by the politicians and put right by business people.

Hi A, Well we find ourselves at this juncture and to be honest we could be in worse places. Actually after thinking about it Barrick could be a very good place to be in the World we live in. I feel like Franky that with Barrick currently at about CAD25 a share their own price is undervalued and could well soon be up at CAD30 and can you believe looking at the ten year they were then CAD60 a share. I did actually buy some more Acacia a couple of day ago, but did buy my first allocation at £4.35 and then at £2.97 when they started to fall, and so like you I hope we can recover some lost ground and like the sound of staying partly with Acacia (even if not in name only) as I felt they were actually a great Company that came into some unfortunate Political problems. The Acacia yearly report can be found on the net and is actually quite eye opening on what they have been up to helping with in a number of local African projects such as education and fresh water and infrastructure I feel I have been with them for a long time now and would like to retain my support. So rewarding to me in more ways than just money.

We need to pray for another day as we are down 4.33%.

Mr T please use the board for CEY, it is not a political sounding board. I only look at Politics with a sense of humour - there is absolutely nothing I can do about what is going on - only steer my investments around each day so that my own family does not have to call upon anyone else, and I can provide independently for myself and my family. I do not ask for anything off anyone else I remain in control of what I can and do not worry about anything I cannot. Don't make yourself ill it is not worth it. Try and relax, have a laugh, have a cool beer. Also pray for CEY.

All that Boris has done is to say ok we will call in VAR and he has therefore consulted with the Referee in the stands i.e. The Queen. She feels the deal cannot go ahead because Corbin and ors are offside, have spent too much in the transfer market and should be punished. She agrees with Boris that not being in Europe is not everything , although she did hear one or two Scottish Clubs did want to join our Premier league. I am not sure the Welsh league gets mention as their season has not yet started. I agree with Boris they is absolutely no point in putting turnstiles on the Irish Border as we are willing to leave the door open for them to come and go and support their local team of preference.

Rep, agree with you the vote has been cast if democracy succeeds we should leave with no deal. The deal idea is all pure Europe. They want our money as they have always had it. Germany is virtually in recession, the French will never agree whatever we want to do (they must be friends of Corbin). The Scots want independence but how can they be they cannot even support their own needs now- funded by us. I feel if the Scots want to leave us -ok let them go but no more bail outs. The privy council has advised the Queen and the CORGIS, all have decided to vote in favour although one Corgi was unsure which way to go, as they enjoy their stay in Balmoral. Still can't keep everyone happy.

Yes I would not feel we are entitled to anything from Barrick until we are part of the same Company and as the earnings for the Barrick divi are for the situation prior to our part ownership I suppose that is fair play, in the same way the other shareholders in Barrick can "keep their little mitts off our special divi too). However I suppose Barrick and Acacia still need the process formally stamped by the Business Court (not sure when the submission is being made) your date was the date HSBC declared to me however I suppose this can be subject to change?

Hi Tiger-for Boris come, come, he is not all that bad, he appears to get on well with the Queen and my Gold mining shares like him a lot. He certainly seems to have given the others parties at last the mojo (or I would say a kick up the ass that they needed to get this thing sorted) we are all fed up with it. We are a complete laughing stock all over the World. However I hear Boris loves those special Duchy biscuits and so I have a feeling like any honey badger he will be back at the Palace before long.

For Centamin as the moment the Gold price has hardly changed (not totally unexpected) the reason for the slight movement is due to the share going ex-divi today, and the price of that is a good 3p, so in real terms we are down 1p, hardly a sudden crash. Trump was very quiet yesterday we need him to start tweeting.

I like everyone do not get it right all the time but when I am on to something I give it my best shot. I have had a life in the city of my bosses always thinking they knew best but after I had left they found out either I was right or I actually did a lot more work than they had anticipated. It was nice when one or two of my old mates and one top boss said Lloyds had lost someone great and one or two even called me the Goat and it was not because of the way I rode a motorbike. Even though I was paid off from Lloyds when my job was done my largest client still confides in me even to today and buys me lunch when he is over in the Uk although the promises of buying me that Nissan Skyline type R were never honoured. despite me making him over USD250M, ha,ha. Still I was lucky to have quietly saved a lot of money towards my Pension and when I felt the time was right to simply walk I did so on my terms and not theirs. My conscience is therefore totally clear.
