Hi, Nige. Glad you weren't washed away - by the deluge, I mean. By your premise then... what ALL builders need to do is: overpay their CEOs, build shoddy property, give out slanted news via an over-heated PR machine ( I refer you to the Harlow town case)and... they - all builders - will become a good, not to miss investment opportunity once the lift hits the bottom floor.
Brexit will have nothing to do with things, really - it will be down to potential customers' response and what state PSN's books are in for the next financial year and beyond. THAT will dictate PSN's future SP. Or to put it another way… The snowball has just started to roll down the hill...
If a large ship crashes into a harbour wall, you have double trouble. And if the same ship is not repaired properly and enterers the same harbour... then you could have quadruple trouble.
I think Persimmon initially panicked and put a sticking plaster over their 'problem' instead of fixing it properly as they should have done. A builder friend once said to me: 'You can do 99 good jobs and 1 bad job; but it's the bad job that gets talked about the most.'
On Anglia News tonight: People are moving out of Persimmon new build houses and flats in Harlow because of myriad faults... An example of minor faults - hot and cold taps fitted wrong way round. Hot taps giving out cold water and cold taps giving out hot water. And washers not fitted either... leading to flooding... 'Surely, these are elementary things, dear Watson.' 'I know, Sherlock... plumbing installed by brickies' labours, do you suppose?' And what their after sales service team is saying is mostly the opposite of what home owners are saying... After all this time, Persimmon is still dragging its feet. Unbelievable. Finally its gone to Parliament... and drawn the attention of a minister... who should have foreclosed their RTB contract a long time ago. Makes my blood boil...
'Well, for one thing, a neat little trick that it's discovered. It's reducing the height of new homes, which lowers the cost of materials to produce higher margins on each house sold.
But peeps won't be bumping their heads on the ceilings of their new home. Not unless they try to stand up in the loft. Barratt has reduced the pitch of the roof so that less construction material is required. Also customers can choose what size rooms they want by selecting the home most suitable for them. Yes, Barratt again staying ahead.'
We won the cricket. The pounds gone down against the dollar - which is always good for the SP. Multiple sentiment is in the air. And the floor is not creaking... It's almost on the tip of my tongue... But of course DYOR.
Lots of buys up until 10am, then a stream of alternative buys and sells, now the beginning of a trail of red... Is this sentimental momentum flagging, or just a natural euphoria peak coming to a temporary conculsion. Nothing in the crystal ball. For those who have sold - well done; for those still holding - good luck Bravehearts!
Your disregard for punctuation obviously upset me so much I made a slight mistake in the spelling of your monicker. I do apologize. But you shouldn't keep upsetting yourself... Incidentally, 'Salver' is a silver tray from which a King's taster sampled food. But, really, nobody is trying to poison you on this board, no matter what you might think to the contrary! You should lighten up and not take things so seriously, Slaver2. We all try to have a good time on this board, with a little friendly banter. So what if we misspell and that at times. Laugh about it. One little caveat though: we are not nasty to one another on this board. PS: I am one third Scottish actually and very proud of it, wee man.
Well done ScaleyBack. But I think you're still riding a wave of euphoria... to 'predict' a drop to 580. Can't see it in the short term myself. But - good news - my crystal ball is presently presenting a hazy picture of an imminent upsurge. But of course, as always, DYOR before committing yourself with your 'hard-earned' cash.
salver2. Oooh deer, oye sea wee have one frum the public bar wot has cum to join us! And he's dun a 'Donald Trump' on me two!
I shall definighty look into that, Nige. (Why is my spell Check not fecking working?)
Barratt Homes... 'achieved 84 NHBC Pride in the Job Awards, more than any other housebuilder for the 15th Consecutive year.
'In March we became the only major builder to be awarded the maximum 5 Star Customer Satisfaction rating for 10 years in a row...'
And, like a wonderful Employer they paid all their employees a handsome bonus package... and they also look after their investors wonderfully well, too - like a mother who looks after her children... Doesn't it make you feel proud to belong to this club?
Violins, begin to play!
Ricky317. Glad to hear you weren't caught. All that you say is on record; but at the end of the day potential property-buying peeps are savvy enough to go on line to see how many of their boxes a Builder ticks. This is an important fundamental that decides a company's future profit/loss. Be interesting to know the total cost of Persimmon's 'snagging' bill. (Nothing in my crystal ball!) Yes, the large stain of this will not wash away easily.
Ricky317, if I was a cynical sort of person, I'd say you were invested in PSN! This is not a 'short term blip' with Persimmon Homes. A lot of damage has been done to the company's 'constructional integrity'. Barratt Homes went through a similar experience in the 70s, and it took them years to recover.
Well, you've got to laugh otherwise you'd cry. Hey, I got... £43.28 left in this (from £25k). But hey if I cashed in I could buy myself a load of shares now for £43.28! Thank goodness dealing in other stocks over the last ten years has wiped out this pitiful loss, otherwise I'd be crying into my cornflakes every morning.
of over 10 years ago... £21,113.77, all I have in the pot now is... £45.83. Not through any fault of my own did this happen. I lay this disaster at the feet of the Val bod by virtue of their misjudgement; incompetence, and consequential dilutions of this share over the years. I have come to the conclusion that they couldn't run a piss up in a brewery. Over these years I have seen posters (old friends) 'disappear' - some victims of prostate cancer, no doubt. Like some current optimistic posters on here, they, too, had great hopes for Val, believing to the bitter end in those who managed (mismanaged) her. If there are winners in this, it is the BOD who have collected substantial salaries and self-gifted tidy bonusses over the years.
by looking to a hot future and buying Oregon, UK's largest timber frame off site manufactures. 20% of its homes will be timber frame in the beginning and much cheaper than conventional builds. Following a warmer weather pattern and skills scarcity, production could increase as necessary to fit a broader production pattern. Certainly a stock for newbies to consider investing in whilst it's still on the 'ground floor'.
