You'll see. In the mean time… (all together now!) ... 'It's just another opportunity to BUY.'
So - dig up the money you've been hiding from your missus... Spring clean by selling those shares that haven't moved in decades and pay no/crap dividends... Cash in some of those premium bonds... Raid the kid's piggy banks - whatever it takes...
...right up to the apex of the roof. Always remember that. Not a good time to sell but definitely a good time to buy/hold. Just a bit of bad Brexit sentiment dusting over builder's SP ATM.
'Rising damp' - nought as good as the old'uns, Nige!
Like the way you're steadying those old jumpy boys on TW.!
Timber frame houses? Little café/shop near me was pulled down to make way for a bespoke 'flat pack' building of a larger construction. After the foundation goes in, the building will be assembled on site in a matter of weeks, which will incorporate a hydraulic (flood proof) system. It's right next to the sea! 'Hold on to your dinner plates, everyone, we're going up!'
Hi, Nige, I think maybe we have arrived at that age where 'repetition' plays a large part in our lives!
Hi, Davielad. Some Yanks from the Deep South staying with me awhile! Family from Mobile. Now y'all know where the lit'le pocket phone's name comes from! I hopefully will stop talkin' like this once the good folk have gone. It's gotten to be a real pleasure having them here... 'Yes, Jed, certainly you can pour me another bourbon, my American friend... You asked so politely, how can I refuse (at this hour of the day)?
Hi Nige
Better than nought, I suppose, but it should never have gotten so out of hand in the first place, and how far does the problem stretch across the country? Mind you Barratt had their bad spell with 'wooden houses' about 30 years ago. But that wasn't faulty workmanship just a basic design fault. Can still hear my house in my head creaking like an old sailing ship in the middle of a windy night. I used to live in a place high up where they once had windmills for grinding corn - so it got pretty blustery at times!
We're not doing too badly after ex- div day, are we? Remember buying my first bdev share@... £1! Then after the credit crunch it went down to 60p or summat. Then 18months later it was back up to £1.80. And Barratts paid NO dividends then! But you've heard it all before. Have a nice Easter and maybe put all or some of your div money back into bdev? My epitaph is gonna be... Bdev paid for this headstone. Yes, posters, it will be made of solid gold!
In spite of Brexit doldrums, there seems to be a steady buying spree on ex-div day. Barratt has one of the best house building standards in the UK, unlike some building companies that I won't mention and whose dodgy shares I don't hold. Unlike some on this board who should be ashamed now that these exposed companies are presently relying solely on the government's Help to Buy scheme to keep their share price stable . But behind the scene government is looking into 'bad building practice' with a view to 'deleting' certain companies' HTB contracts.
A bargain buying day today! Buying up in 'small' amounts. Snip, snip, snip...Brexit Blues, the reason for the drops, probably. Certainly nothing else - and that's straight from the mouth of the crystal ball!
