Note also that the previous CX of Goldplat is heavily invested and involved in Caracal. He saw the potential and knows the value but the board of Goldplat wanted to go a different way which is fair enough.

Goldplat operated the mine for some time. For example in an RNS dated 2 November 2018 they confirmed:

- KPG produced 1,201 ounces of gold and gold equivalents (Q1 2017: 1,449 ounces) with 1,109 ounces of gold sold (Q1 2017: 1,224 ounces) on KPG's own account during the Quarter.

They operated the mine and made some investment into the processing plant. However, the mine was not core to their main gold recovery business. They were not willing to make the required additional investment in either money or time. I think it should not be underestimated the fabulous job Robbie McCrea and team are doing. He is a top professional, on site and fully committed to that one asset, not running the mine remotely as part of a larger portfolio of assets.

The mine profitability was not there for Goldplat and it was not core to their business. Note gold was around $1250/oz when the mine was put into hibernation in May 2019.

Could their location be their biggest weakness and their biggest strength ?

Kenya has not been kind to miners in the past and Caracal are pretty much the only company operating an active mine. I think this is putting off investors who may have been caught out previously in Kenya.

However, with the recent changes there and upcoming local listing they will be become the figurehead for the whole industry and should therefore garner great political support. Also, being first in gives them a real chance to gain momentum whilst others are still considering making their moves.

- The new T-shirts seem to say 2021 on the back and so I suppose they may need to order some saying 2022 in the next few months. Capex not yet clear and I only hope they can be paid for from existing funds rather than through an equity raise.

The statement of company intent is to have a 3million oz resource and 50,000 oz/pa production within 36-48 months at the mine. Whereas the cx statement is that the company as a whole will have a 3 million oz resource within 12-18 months AND separately also restating the aim for 50,000 oz/pa (but without associating it with the reduced time frame of 12-18 months).

On the final page there seemed a bit of a discrepancy to me but perhaps I have mis-understood.

In the continued bullet point statement of the company aims carried over from the previous page we have 3m oz and 50ozpa within 36-48 months. Then the article ends with a CX statement in which a timescale of 12-18 months is given for the same target. The latest official company presentation seems to agree with the CX on timings but only up to 2m oz resource (not 3m oz).

It is only one article and not really important but there does seem to be a slight lack of clarity on targets to me. However, on the basis that any discrepancies appear due to progressing ahead of original targets it seems a positive issue on the whole.

Another wild day today I see.

You certainly raise an interesting point Chris. If selling stopped, as in completely stopped, then the price would not go up as there could be no more trading at any level.

With gold going up in $ and the £ coming down things look even better.

This is just the beginning of course, very early days, but I can see great things ahead for an expanded range including nightwear, swimwear and fragrance.

I think that was my favourite of their various interviews and presentations so far.

So many little snippets of good news and information just casually dropped in and so much confidence and energy. I enjoyed the rebuttal of comments made by Andrew Bell recently, importantly done in a light hearted way, as their ambitious growth plans will seem to require a deal with him at some point.

He mentioned the share price a number of times and so it is clearly on their mind. My only slight concern is how they might fund an imminent purchase. Raising at this level would be disappointing but as management have only delivered gold so far I am very happy to trust them.

Overall; either this is an absolutely fantastic investment opportunity or Robbie McCrae is a shoe in for the best actor Oscar this year.
