AJ Bell, X-O, Hargreaves and Equiniti (I knew them as Selftrade) are all more useful without annoying restrictions.....

Ii are very good at many things but not so great for setting limits on volatile AIM shares where huge swings (up or down) don't fit well into their coding parameters on their platform. You cannot say "sell GGP only if it hits £5" as ii think you are being daft if the current price is less than 50p.

These restrictions and checks save you from typos such as selling a share you have for 24p instead of £24 on the market - but don't suit (potential) multi-bagging automatic limit orders.

The only way round it is to remain eagle eyes and keep adjusting limits as share prices rise - or don't set the limit at all.

..... Have never read ii's small print but presume they possibly do loan stock to other third parties for shorting?

Well phrased - my version of dithering buffoons would've been all stars by the time LSE got hold of it.

I always marvel at the OZ version of track and trace - a specific list of buses, supermarkets, takeaways, etc with dates and times and instructions to book a test immediately if you were there and stay isolated until you get a negative results.

They locked down the whole city of Brisbane when they had one, yes one, suspected positive test of someone with no symptoms.

We, as an island alongside Ireland, should've had every advantage in controlling the spread of this virus. We could've been in the audience at Glasgow's Celtic Connections, ambling around the Chelsea Flower Show, booking our tickets for Wimbledon and sat green eyed with envy as our children wave their Glastonbury 2021 tickets at us - but we are doing none of the above.

Pure and simply because of our choice of politicians. Suck it up UK. Choices -> actions -> consequences.

The move from AIM to the main market is not purely based on market capitalisation. GGP may move if they wish to add to their clout and credibility in institutional inverstors' eyes.

AIM was set up as a stock market "lite" where reporting requirements were less onerous than the main market - smaller companies struggled to justify the cost of a full market listing so AIM was created as a market where they could raise money from investors but not reporting every five minutes about how many paperclips they owned.

There's been plenty of successful AIM companies with huge market caps who took their time to move to the FTSE.

I'm fairly convinced Newcrest will crack on drilling like crazy - specially infill areas - and have the technology to immediately accurately know in the field what they have, even if they can't formally report it for the reason you noted.

I was quite keen on our nearology neighbours reporting to help flesh out details just beyond our tenement boundaries - it may give some comfort with our own drilling of new targets specially at Paterson East. Lab delays may drag out this process over multiple drilling seasons.

I guess I have been used to being spoiled with Newcrest's hammer and tongs approach to churning out drill results.

It was Artemis' Carlow Castle update - one if their spots nowhere near us but I think it was the idea that if you found hee-haw you had to declare it as such as it is a "competent person" putting their name to the words.

I found it in my post from a couple of days ago:

"Another noteable item from Artemis's Carlow Castle results is the number of drill results labelled"NSI". Stands for No Significant Intercepts or duds in layman's terminology."

Might take a while for me to trawl back to find - unless someone on here reminds me - they had a whole heap of NSI - no significant intercepts - listed in their results.

I'm busy setting fires and burning things at the mo - wood burning stove and home made burgers respectively, so I may have to prioritize waving a tea towel at the smoke detector until normality resumes.

Had a quick cursory re-read of the Sept 20 exploration update from Newcrest. They reported 34 holes from about 35,000m of drilling. Presuming in the subsequent 12(ish) weeks the number of drills at HAV didn't change and taking about two ish weeks off for the Christmas break - 2 weeks out of 12 is one sixth of the time where nothing was happening. One sixth of 34 is six (rounding up) so we should've seen 34 minus 6, giving 28 drill core results in the most recent update - but we only got 18.

So we could have at least ten assays stuck in the backlog in the lab from the last three months of 2020. Presumably the labs will catch up with reporting these cores, plus all those submitted by other explorers, whilst the majority of explorers are not out drilling in the hottest of the Oz summer desert heat.

There must be a point, which is unlikely to impact NC but may impact our nearology neighbours and very possibly the next set of our own Scallywag cores when, if results are delayed so long, sensible decisions about where to continue drilling and when to abandon an area could be pushed from the current drilling season into the following year.

Let's hope the labs are extending their capacity to keep up with the literal and metaphorical gold rush.

Otherwise yet more patience will be required....

Indeed Bamps - all hitting mineralisation - very unusually good. One of our nearology wannabes had to report NSI - no significant intercepts. How much money do you spend drilling nearby or at a slightly different angle trying to find the next HAV?

As I say, I ain't a geologist ,so I have to look at other people's drill results and updates to get a handle on just how spectacular HAV continues to be......

The next four Scallywag drill cores are also going to be interesting and it will be informative to see on the satellite sometime in March which area within Scallywag they return to first or if they target Teach.

AM90 did a good overlay of which direction they had drilled from each Scallywag pad location - which seemed to have no clear rhyme or reason!

@Bamps, well spotted - the original HAD097 only went to just over 500m before being stopped. Hence no assays.

I wonder if the bit fell off the end of their drill at the bottom of the hole - doh!

I have to read HAV information by comparing it to other updates. Did anyone read about Red Chris?

They have eight drills active (now similar to our nine, where they recently used to have three). They reported 18 entirely new holes - similar to us. Their best highlight was 24m at 1.9g/t Au.

If NC are happy to pay eight drill teams to freeze their butts off in northern Canada in winter discovering grades less than 1.0 then HAV's results are mindboggling.

What's HAD097 doing in that table - no significant asssay - if they "hit mineralisation in every hole"? Although they did a sidetrack which hit, hmmm.

Don't know if my new favourite is HAD 111, replacing HAD083..... 133g/t Au. Only 30cm of it but the display case above my mantlepiece for my souvenir core ain't going to be much longer than 1.5 metres long, so that bit of HAD 111 would be pretty enough.

Understanding core results:

Think of a drawer full of a few coins, thousands of elastic bands, numerous dead batteries, dozens of pens, bits of plastic, sone string, an empty roll of sellotape, etcc. We all have one of these drawers somewhere in our lives!

Imagine you empty out the drawer and keep all the coins and put them in a bag.
You have 100 coins - you know this cos you counted them.
One of them is (lucky you) a £2 coin.
The other 99 are all pennies.

How much money do you have?

£2.99 with one hundred coins
But £2 with one of those coins.

Which coin in the bag is worth rummaging around trying to find first - that one £2 coin.

The drawer is the entire length of the drill core - mostly worthless junk.
The bag of coins are the length of your good bits of drill core. Pennies are worth something so you should collect them - block cave mining, but if you can go straight in to get the £2 coin each and every time - selective mining following a vein - you'll be rich quicker.

@OilMonkey - Wick (pronounced "Weeek") should've been northern enough - shame about the cloud, near full moon and all the manmade light pollution.

@TDAD - the Shetland (Sumburgh?) webcam showed light, low on the northern horizon at the time I posted. Activity had also reached "RED" which I believe is relatively rare. Don't know how long that lasted though cos I went and hit the hay about then.

I did once see northern lights many years ago when out in the Utah Desert south of Salt Lake City. But that solar storm was so huge I think it took out swathes of Canada's power grid. That particular aurora was visible from unusually far south locations.

Northern Lights (and for those in the southern hemisphere too) are kicking off just now - if you are close enough to a northern latitude and the sky is clear.

The two western lights on the most recent radar were obviously creating a new dune crossing as a short cut to the initial groundworks for the decline.

This may be the image that I print large in high res and hang above the mantlepiece.

Looking forward to another Sentinel satellite image tomorrow. Forecast is good and it looks like the storm blew through with a couple of cooler cloudy days (down to +25C as compared to daytime norms of 40!). There was no rain at Telfer, so hopefully no rain to disrupt HAV drilling either.

Would NC's core results from the end of last year all be snarled up in the same lab delays that all the exploration companies are experiencing?

We may get half the number of results that we normally get in the quarterly update.

I count to six for HAV drills, although they may be drilling in the site compound too which is just a mass of lights.

More curiosity is another two signals on the western side of HAV, almost due south of the original field camp. They are close to, but further south, from activity that pre-dates CB's interesting screensaver, which I'd have to go back and double check on a proper laptop....

I'm not convinced it's decline sterilisation drilling either - seems to far from the box cut location.
