The question is whether it would be deemed to be in the National Interest to block any deal on National Security grounds. I think it would depend on who the other party is.

Monday could be an interesting day for HARL. The Entsha is due into Appledore. As I do not have visibility of ships going in and out of Appledore have to hope that Si_Derman has his binoculars out and can confirm its arrival I believe that it will arrive around noon. Also on Monday the Polar Onyx is due into SRQ at Belfast. In addition we have that intriguing question from Jack Dromey during Defence Questions on Monday.

Monday is Defence Questions and of note is this question from Jack Dromey 'What steps his Department is taking to (a) maintain and (b) extend the capabilities of the defence shipbuilding industry. ' Also perhaps worth noting is this question form Angela Crawley 'What recent assessment he has made of the (a) adequacy and (b) efficiency of his Department's procurement. '

LSE03 ref 08.44 post Interesting I see they are addressing the issues around the last leasing round which means in a couple of years the Sovereign Grant will be significant. I presume that HARL with its industry and government contacts will be well positioned to ensure that it gets a fair proportion of the supply chain.

In the Accounts for the 2020 Financial year IslandMagee had a Net Book Value of £9,621,767. This was without the benefit of the Marine License. Does anyone have an idea what the Net Book Value of IslandMagee will be with the benefit of the Marine License if different.

Pokerchips ref 11.45 post if HARL is able to get a couple of multi year contracts to service ships/ferries then I can see no issue with getting a revolving credit facility. Of the tenders I know about that are due to be awarded before Christmas one is a £30m 10 year contract to start from 2023. The other is a single ship tender for a new build which will have a significant contract value.

oldtramp ref 07.20 post I think somebody has been having a word about putting in contract values. They do not have to put the exact amount but like with this one an indication.

A nice contract win for Appledore. This seems to be outside the Framework agreement with the RNLI. Hopefully more to come.

Pokerchips ref 16.54 post It should also be noted that by year end apart from the two ships in dock at the moment and the third due in on Monday five ships are due in Belfast by the end of the year. It looks like it will be an interesting end of the year, I wonder if we will get any lifeboats in before year end.

On the sub contract work they have been negotiating this work ever since I have been invested here. I ma not sure that the Prime Contractors really want to sub contract the work so are dragging their heels on the matter.

Chrisatrdg ref 16.20 post On double checking the Belfast Harbour website both Aisling Gabrielle and the W.B. Yeats have been in drydock since Monday. The Polar Oynx's arrival has been rescheduled to the 15 November. So at present for the first part of next week there will be three ships in Belfast two in drydock and one in the building dock

oldtramp ref 12.21 I recall seeing this reported earlier in the week the question is who will get the contract. I would have thought that Scotland is at capacity so HARL might be in luck this time.

oldtramp ref 16.51 post thanks for that a very interesting listen aside to the reference to President Putin my main takeaway was that in response to I believe it was Mr Dickson he appeared to imply that he may not have agreed with the decision. I note that he stated on a number of occasions Mr Poots stated that he left it to officials to handle the applications and only became involved at the end. It would seem that Mr Poots may have made a decision that he did not personally agree with but as the decision maker he could not refuse the application. That will scupper any application for judicial review.

Si_Derman ref 16.24 post I agree that the marine license news was probably already factored in. Mentioning this raises an interesting question about any legal challenge. Normally for a judicial review, I presume time limits are the same in England and Northern Ireland are the same, the challenge has to be within 12 weeks of the date of the decision. In this case what was the date of the decision. I would argue that time started to run from when the draft license was issued as that was when the decision to grant the license was given. I believe that the 28 days was only for HARL to agree the conditions.
