So many armchair lawyers on here. All thinking it's just a case of legal action, AST win and get loads of money. I suggest you research such cases against governments. Maybe in the UK it could work. the UK government follows the rules. The Slovene government has been proven not to.

Who's going to enforce sanctions against Slovenia? Look at high profile cases of Iran and Russia and then consider the effectiveness against Slovenia.

There's been a lot of vitriol against Colin and Clive on here and Twitter. I am also well down on share value as every one is. However just having a knee jerk reaction against Colin and Clive is largely a result of just being annoyed. Maybe Colin and Clive should have been aware of the way the Slovene government would play this out. Maybe they should have known they would not follow their own rules and would try to stop the issuing of permits by delaying as they would know that just saying no could bring legal action. The reality is the real target has to be Slovenia and their third world attitude to investment in their country.

Once you understand that you have a better idea of how to deal with the problem. Simple legal action is unlikely to succeed. They don't follow their own rules so why would they obey any court ruling against them, if it were to happen? What's needed is a way of getting at the problem which 'persuades' them to allow the permits, because they are persuaded it is good for the country and their individual political careers as ministers.

That may be happening now with some ministers arguing against Jure Leben and taking their case to the PM.

Despite all accusations from some Colin has been good at resolving issues. The current selling of gas to INA and buying the pipeline to Croatia from Trameta to do so is a case in point.

Know your opponent and target and how to deal with them. With his experience in Slovenia and Croatia and with our JV partners I would say Colin is well placed to do that. Whether he is successful or not is in the balance. But Slovenia will be the greater loser if the gas is not accessed. They have to be persuaded with that factor in mind.

Smoking it? Good Lord no. They munch through it and then fly off south for the Winter. The birds? They just stay here and collect benefits.

New_2 there are other courses. But I'm not going to repeat myself as I've already stated some. I prefer to leave things to the experts. I just like to know how our expert (Colin) is getting on. I can only surmise he is not able to tell us currently because to do so would reveal his hand, despite the shouting of some on here and Twitter.

Sorry New_2 you show such naivety. It costs money to go to court. We don't have money to spare. It costs politically as well for AST as they are showing aggression towards Slovenia. If (and it's a big if) AST won their case Slovenia could find many ways of ignoring the result. For example, and it could be a reason why AST would not win a case, the court could view it as a matter for government ministers as a government issue and not for the court.

Afterwards even if we were to succeed in a court case I don't believe other countries would stop accessing Slovenia. We still do business with Russia despite the incidents at Salisbury some months ago. Such things don't stop interaction between counties, unfortunately.

New_2 there are numerous cases of governments in Europe ignoring court findings against them. The ECJ has many cases where they found against a country and the country has ignored the findings. Many do so by just 'brushing them under the carpet' as you say. They ignore them. We need a strategy that has a chance of success. Having an influential minister within the Slovene government looking to get things sorted out, after the article I linked to in an earlier post at the start of this thread shows what they could lose, is a way forward. That could be far more effective than being more aggressive with legal action which may or may not succeed and, even if it were to succeed, may be ignored.

That is where JL's beliefs lie. With the environmental protesters.

There's a large element of naivety and boorish behaviour on Twitter and on here. JL is an environmental activist who has got in to the Slovene government. He has not been as overt as other protesters but it is clear they have got their man in where they want him.

Those here and on Twitter need to realise they need to approach it from the correct angle. He needs to be out flanked by going directly to the Slovene PM or even to certain individuals in the EU, who should be known to Colin, who would sideline JL to allow their gas to be accessed. There's no point for us to attack JL directly as that will just harden his position.

I hope Colin realises that and is conducting operations in the background away from the nonsense on Twitter and some on here. He appears to be doing just that.

Naive to think we can get compensation. Even if any court, Slovene or EU, found in our favour the Slovene government may well refuse to pay out, as often occurs when government's are found against by courts. So that's a very risky route to follow.

Be careful Slovene government, be very careful. That paragraph shows what has been happening for 70 years not just the last few years. Stopping it now, as they are, will change everything positive for Slovenia in that article.

Looking really good here as far as the company is concerned. The SP is looking anemic though. People are clearly pulling their funds out of other shares as they generally fall back. You may think that SML would be a good one to put money in to.
