Yes, we're in for an interesting time.
The judge explicitly told Cine to listen to offers and my guess is that was on the back of an interested party being ignored! I wouldn't be surprised if there are offers for the whole and for some of the parts of the company. It's not beyond the wit of man for Cine to sell off some parts, do a cash raise and have a level of debt that is more manageable. The judge sounds pragmatic and I think he will want a solution where no-one loses out in the long term.
Of course, someone might want to buy the whole lot but I can't see shareholders losing out in either scenario given where the sp is just now! For me, there's less risk attached to Cine now.

I've got some sympathy with that view asimpleinvestor - there are times when it appears that the sp is rising simply on some buying activity. Volumes rise and fall quickly. This time, volumes have not fallen back quickly.

The backdrop now though is that there is now some movement in Ghana by the regulators. My guess is the Clon mgt have been/are seeing some activity which will bring about ratification.

I added at around the same time twice - once slightly below and one slightly above those prices - the sp was jumping around at the time so they could have been buys.
In any event, something seems to be stirring... I wouldn't be surprised if we heard news on Ghana very soon.

alamo55 - good post. It highlights the potential for CINE. Yes, they have a lot of debt but C11 gives them the breathing space to get back on track to profitability and I think the judge is doing a great job to help them get through this. There's more significant news coming along than last night's and I reckon that there's a much higher chance that holders will NOT be wiped out. By the end of this month, things will look a lot better... and even better by end December. Roll forward to the summer and things will look pretty good compared to today. I'm not surprised that some folk are thinking that a sale is likely... CINE is a very attractive proposition for many reasons that others have listed. FWIW, I think that there's a multi-bag here. Just need to be patient!

I'd agree where-is-my - if there's a court hearing on Monday then I'd expect that to bring some positive news. There's already a suggestion that they think they'll be out of CH11 by March.

I'd suggest as well that we don't have an RNS because of the court hearing on Monday? Hope to see one next week if the court hearing goes well.

I think he or she has got it wrong regarding the dollar... a stronger dollar means it is less in £'s once converted! However, the strong dollar is advantageous if someone in the US wants to buy all or part of CINE. Paying, say, £300m for CINE today is much cheaper in dollars than it was 6 months ago!

Whether it's Netflix or someone else... the dollar is strong and CINE is cheap. Judge said that they needed to be open to offers... do you think that no-one would be interested in CINE. Now that we're at the back end of Covid and it's impact, a cheap cinema chain might be very attractive!

Some might dismiss a takeover by Netflix or someone else but you have to remember that the dollar is very strong just now... CINE, even with it's debt pile, is very cheap just now... very cheap indeed.

Yes, they've still got a way to go... a good November and December would be most welcome. My guess is that they convinced the court that that is exactly what they're expecting. And it does seem that they've still got all to play for. As you say, longer term the prospects look cheerier... if they can get to June and if the world is in a slightly better place then, yes, the sp will be way higher.

What I find fascinating about the US in particular is the positioning of 'media' companies... the pandemic showed that streaming, etc can be popular if people are locked in but we're seeing that people do want to be out and about. Some have suggested that Netflix might be interested... I can see the rationale in that. This is going to be a very interesting ride!

Hexam - you seem to know the situation so hope you don't mind responding. Got to admit that I only jumped on board yesterday. After a wee bit of research, I took the view that the court wouldn't have allowed the agreement unless there's a reasonable plan/situation. Like others, I think some of the new releases should see some good levels of cash roll in.
The other attraction was that there was the possibility of a sale... I got the impression that they hadn't been listening to offers but were instructed to... is that a fair reflection?

I'm going to repeat again that they have a plan to trade out of this without a rescue package (or if there is one, it will be at a bare minimum) and the plan seems to be working.

Joules customers are likely to be able to absorb the impact of the cost of living issue. Results must be due very soon, the closed period will be over and the mgt can then show what level of confidence that they have by buying shares.

And another day and week without a rescue package... it's looking more and more likely that these guys have got a plan to trade through this and that it's working!

Warrenbjunior - quite common for retailers to be offering discounts at this time of year. 2nd last pay day before Christmas is not unusual. Plus they seem to have accommodated price increases in RRPs so it seems a smart move.

I'd say that it's a smart move just before pay day. 30% off looks very attractive but I'm fairly sure that there RRP's are higher to begin with so they could end up with a more profitable period. Nevertheless, I'll be pointing my daughters to the website to get their old man a Christmas present!!

And I agree that the silence on a rescue package is reassuring... it's been weeks if not months since their challenges became an issue. There's no panicky dash to get funds and I think that there is a good chance that they can trade through these current difficulties.

There's no detail at all in that article so suggesting that it is all over for CLON is misleading. We don't know the law changes yet, especially around JV's. At the very worst, CLON can sell on their lithium interests in Bolivia...is that not their general approach anyway?

PET reporting that discussions have started again with Ghana on Tano. Two directors have taken part in the placing too... some confidence that things are beginning to move!
