what i do know is that it would be remarkably difficult for london regulators to enforce any kind of meaningful penalty against him if he had sold EUA shares, but had failed to inform the company. (and since he is not an EUA director, different penalties would applicable even if they could be enforced.)

The last time any director bought any EUA shares was CS, back on 3/11/23, when he exercised deeply in the money options that were about to expire. he only had to pay 0.42p per share for 6 million shares, when the market price was circa 5 times higher, a little over 2p.

so yes, that was a director purchase, but it didn’t show anything about BoD confidence in underlying value, since he’d been given them as a freebie to begin with, and they were deeply in the money. he would have effectively have been throwing away free money if he allowed them to expire unexercised.

by contrast, it might mean something if a director dipped their hand into their own pocket and bought a large wodge of shares at the prevailing market price, since that would strongly imply that they believed the shares were undervalued. but that has *not* happened at all with this company for many years.
