Nope, never said i was a broker (that’s a different beast, lower form of life, lol).
i was a market-maker in OTC FX derivatives for a US investment bank, back in the ‘80s. … but i’m afraid that doesn’t give me much insight into how UK brokers would try to manage short equity positions in ex-AIM companies 30+ years later.
[if i had to guess, i would assume both parties on a moribund delisted ex-AIM company would both preferred just to close out and flatten the books, so perhaps if the shorter could not provide actual shares to close, they would long ago simply have negotiated a price at which to settle which both parties could live with, reflecting (a) that it was a rubbish facade of a company with no money left that had gone bung, balanced against (b) the remote chance that it might one day be worth something. — but that’s just a guess.]
