the (risible) explanation given by amit for not paying out last time round was because one particular UK broker had made some kind of “miscalculation” that then led to a “discrepancy”, which supposedly meant that some pi shareholdings [- presumably, ones associated with that one particular UK broker -] couldn’t then be correctly identified.

… point being, the explanation was *not* that there was any problem paying out to pis whose shareholdings were in a certificated form, rather than in a nominee account or similar.

All this guff about brokers saying they’re hearing from pis that there’s supposed to be a payout, and can see that the cloudtag website has made that kind of promise too … but with the brokers themselves not having been sent cleared funds or indeed provided with any details directly …. all just sounds pretty much the same as was being posted here in the week or two leading up to the ‘before xmas’ promise (that never materialised).

Depends on the quality of the acquisitions, and the prices paid for such …. previous aviva CEOs overpaid for a mish-mash of disparate assets that lacked focus and any meaningful synergy. blanc has been trimming away some of the accumulated nonsense.

amit announces yesterday that within seven working days, payouts will have been *completed*. and yet today his fans want to argue that if after seven working days nobody has received their payment, but a broker has at least heard something, anything! … then that would be good reason to trust amit. wow, talk about setting a low bar.

hence my “LOL” when the update came out. so far as i can see, it’s just yet more of the same utter rubbish that cloudtag has been doing for more than 20 updates in a row …. i.e. interminable promises that deals and payments are just around the corner, but never with any independently verifiable details, and never with actual payments arriving … then followed in due course by more delays, more updates, more promises etc.

the update today just looks to me like yet more of the same.

(? unless of course there’s another update in a week or two saying that most ctag pis should have received their payouts by now, but just in case you’re one of the unlucky ones who haven’t because of that naughty UK broker’s miscalculation, cloudtag thanks you for your patience and understanding and more details will be provided at a later date about how you could try to claim money from the invisible trust fund?)

…. hard to see what could possibly go wrong with that, given the history with amit and cloudtag.

It’s an interestingly tight time-scale to complete payments to all pis who hold their shares outside nominees accounts with brokers /institional platforms, etc, ain’t it? — waiting with interest to see just how the agent will ensure that’s finished within seven working days from today.

fascinating to see how many on this chatboard seem to be falling for the patter again - think B3ast basically called it this morning.

… just better hope no pis suddenly decide at the last minute that they want to receive payment in ringgit or kroner, as that might cause a few minutes extra delay …
