Ths just 39, including another of mine! Trading almost non existent partly because of large family holding (but Hoc still has a fairly large one) and lack of free float but more just lack of interest despite this being one of the most publicity minded mining shares especially compared to the likes of cey and hoc?

I agree Autonomy, but one year Mr MaGuire will have to be right unless gold falls for decades beyond when he is no longer writing. . Let’s hope this year he is finally right, rather than us staying range bound before falling a bit further. I remain ever hopeful … but take the likes of AM along with the tea leaves and my pinch of salt….

Autonomy, it is low real interest rates that are good for gold, so high inflation controlled by high interest rates is bad for us, however it looks increasingly likely that inflation will rise faster than interest rates, (Powell n no hurry to raise them much) meaning lower or increasingly negative rates which is good for gold (unless the competition from rising shares is greater). However most of all gold is currently range bound so having got near the bottom was looking for a reason to rise near the top, which it has. The big longer term question is when will the negative real interest rates give gold a kick up, perhaps when shares and Bitcoin are seen as less competition, and bonds already are imho

The market is a tussle between optimists and pessimists: conformation of findings mean a lot to those who are not sure, and especially with experience of miners, but when they have come in again it is time for the pessimists to tek profits. Without any really different news we seem range bound as the optimists and pessimists tussle it out, until mor real facts. Imho

Yes Bangrak, I have frequently been saying that the fall in share price is partly because of Rh 40% fall, but that it is worth the price with no rh at all. However the concern of the chromium tax hangs over this.

I am not Visitor but this is from Market Screener, it totals about ¾ of the shares, the majority owned by the Pouroulis, which partly explains the lack of liquidity, but at least they have plenty of skin in the game though I guess they will do what is best for them.

bolland, it is always very hard to call the bottom for a share that has been falling for a year, I hope you are right but I would wait for gold to clear 1900 and silver 28 imho, it has a horrid bucking bronco habit of drawing you in and throwing you off

Gnome, while MaGuire always seems to call that gold is about to rise, and should randomly be right half the time, tho sadly rather less with current gold, while Sunshine and Todd Bubba who mostly call it down have been more lucky or prescient, you calling a rise is a different matter, streets wiser and not in the business of buying or selling gold. So I am encouraged!

I am not worried, v happy holding Tharisa, just pointing out to Freedom that Palladium’s rise is for us has been overshadowed by Rh fall so our basket is actually down not up. Have to look at THS in the round including the currently wonderful chrome, tho hopefully not too wonderful tempting the tax risers to act

Yes but sadly rhodium, which is three times more valuable to us than palladium, has broken down below its July low to $17000 today on jmat, and as a result our basket has broken below $3000, hence our share price

I think it is big profit that worries Castillo and my feeling is Hoc is in little danger of making excess profits, chance would be a fine thing. Presumably this morning is partly the IC article I mentioned below?

I agree that the share price doesn’t reflect the value of the company just now as on this years profits should be half what it is, but this year is hopefully a very abnormal year and if AISC falls back as much as Mr Tibbles hopes to anywhere near where it was before, as (if) ounces rise, then at these gold prices we should be worth 50% more, so the value in between seems about right particularly as gold stocks are anticipating falling gold prices and rising mine inflation, in both of which hopefully they will be wrong. We have been on a downward staircase for a year now, pausing and then lurching further down and there is nothing yet to suggest this is over either in gold price, costs or ounces but hopefully we will turn sometime not too distant! Have a get weekend

Well rh and the basket, which have now just fallen back below $3000, seem to be reacting to the news. On the chromium front the worry is the proposed new tax could wipe out a lot of the profit.

Yes some companies annoy by not communicating at all, some seem a tad too needy, today THS tweet again about a few chromium miners opposing the new chrome tax. This for me is one of the bigger brakes on the shares as it could obviate Vulcan taking away chrome profits. So on the one hand chrome profits under threat, on the other PGM’s under threat mid term if move to electric vehicles accelerates, so to some extent we are buying short term profits which is then expensive hence for me the lower share price imho
