Webbs you made me realise the problem, these boards are made of a lot of Mail and Telegraph readers who aren’t told the wider picture, like the Daily Mail Orosur has its own news agenda,puts a spin on its stories that then isn’t bought, has an opinionated boss, and so an army of conspiracy believing small shareholders, like the readers, and behind them people with money who play them up and down as they run all the way to the bank on our silly losses, hey ho same old same old. Happy new year to all and hopefully Bhargat etc are right, and by just sitting tight one day we will be able to sell at a profit but I wouldn’t hold your breath. I have been waiting decades for this to come right and expect at least a decade more if it ever does. Must self flagellate more and repeat never get sucked into buying more, but I always do. That’s true and more bullish news in my book as JP. Morgan say gold will decline to $1520 this year: “An unwinding in ultra-accommodative central bank policy will be most outright bearish for gold and silver over the course of 2022… gold prices are set to steadily decline over the course of next year to a Q4 average of $1,520/oz." Hopefully the more are bearish the more gold may rise, though if they are right Centamin profits will be much lower than pre Covid and the share price similarly

Price depends on when you take the price and divi is a % of that . Then divi paid is a bit confusing as the second dividend in year 2019 was paid in 2020 because of Covid worries, so 2019 4c 2020 6c 6c 3c. So 2020 PE looks much higher whatever share price it is calculated on . In truth dividend is around 9 or 10c a year. So about 7p so at current share price this year so at current share price about 8% but expecting a dividend fall next year, if earnings stay up because of rising gold nd dividend remains then expect a considerably higher share price to take dividend back to around 5% imho? Also of course unusually only one dividend this tax year I think

Ye thanks for the trouble Kando, I have been keenly anticipating a rise this Xmas after last year’s washout - I came back to Cey in a big way in early Dec 2015 and have, as you, enjoyed this big time first quarter repeat a few times…and not. Looking at the first first quarter this year gold fell 10% from 1891 to 1691, last year rose 3% 1547 to 1594 , year before level pegged 1287-1293, of course like all statistic depends on dates you choose, but my point is this usually gets going before Xmas, but sadly this year gold is down $60 since mid Nov, a sore disappointment as I had been hoping for it to get going over the last mont. so haven’t seen the signs tho of course ever hopeful. 2017, 19 and 21 gold didn’t have great first quarters; 2016 2018 and 2020 when it did it started the rise at the start of Dec, suggesting this may be another year without a first quarter rise.

32000 just arrived, in investment account from Barclay’s, haven’t checked husband or is a account yet, I am about to look up, but if you know how much is each Aclara share valued as a dividend for tax purposes and what is purchase price for cut when come to sell

Thanks, I knew in Canada and moved them from Barclay in time so now with ii, and can keep them, just failed to get paid as a dividend and sometimes didn’t discuss here, anyway only leaves me £8k out of pocket so hay ho, the good thing is that is about 4p on the share price for me so much more important that Hoc does well and great the price is back over 150 combined

I posted on all three Hoc points you mention. It is lovely to get this Hoc special dividend, but given unusually paid in Aclara shares it would have helped to tell us they couldn’t be held in some UK stockbroker accounts, and would be worth transferring to a spouse etc as a v hefty dividend tax otherwise. Just emphasises poor communication skills/care of shareholders which is germane to the company. Great on Snip and Amarillo but both are small potatoes for this company, great to see share price recovering on lower Peruvian politics worries, and extraordinary that shares didn’t fall when went ex div, if I had guessed something so unlikely and inexplicable I would have bought loads the day before and sold the day after to get lots of Aclara for free. As said shame I had to give half to the taxman because of the usual lack of information, and many of us notice a correlation between company comms and overall governance and growth

The worst thing is that with the fall I will have to sell half as paying over 50% in dividend tax now, they might have told us

Autonomy I think more and more gold investors are becoming discouraged, they invest expecting gold to rise but it keeps not doing so, so many having been burnt by so many false rallies are giving up, hence shares lower while gone in sterling, which counts for us, actually higher £1273 to £1336 over the last 6 months. Plus with Centamin many investors seemed surprising unaware of how much profits would fall over these couple of years and 2024 is a long time to wait. However I am...

so 8% yield but big question is whether profits will recover to continue this level of payout without divi being made out of capital and uncovered and market seems to doubt it

Me neither as have sensibly moved my holdings form Barclays to ii, just in time, as Barclays will not allow you to own foreign shares, and Aclara is Toronto quoted, plus any dividends etc always come into Barclays way after everyone else

The problem is this promises great jam tomorrow but a lot of investors look at Jan today and currently profits will be lower than at the time of the endeavour bid because of how much higher costs and lower ounces that more than obviate the change in sterling gold price. However I am extremely happy to hold as I am looking forward to lots of delicious jam in 2024 onwards
