It's going back many moons and like yourself things very hazy.
I seem to recall the rigg drilled several successful wells in the North Basin then moved to the South Basin were they had to drill much deeper and only found high temp gas and very little oil.
While drilling the wells in the South Basin the rigg developed the problem with the BOP.
Because the repair required couldn't be on site it was decided to use the remaining time on the contract to drill a further three wells and plug just before target depth.
The rigg then left for the UK were there was some talk of it being scrapped,not sure if that happened.
