RE: WATER FRAMEWORK COMPLIANCE ASSESSMENT posted8 Jan 2020 12:33
Here are all the points from the conclusions:
This Water Framework Directive Compliance Assessment (WFDCA) has been carried out
for Altalto Immingham Ltd in support of a proposed treated effluent discharge outfall to the
Lower Humber Estuary.
7.1.2 The River Humber falls within the Humber River Basin District and is designated as a surface
water body. Based on the 2016 WFD cycles this water body is designed to have a current
overall status of ‘Moderate’, with a ‘Moderate’ ecological status and ‘fail’ chemical status.
7.1.3 As part of the assessment it is recognised that there is potential for pollution through effluent
discharges during the operation of the site and damage to habitat utilised by qualifying bird
species through construction of effluent pipework.
7.1.4 The current treated effluent concentrations levels are at or above threshold levels at the point
source. Precise details of the effluent outfall and its associated concentration levels will be
clarified as part of the ongoing environmental permitting process, development design and
dispersion modelling minimising the risk of pollution of waters and degradation of habitats.
7.1.5 To avoid potential pollution and run-off impacts during construction, site works will be
undertaken in accordance with best practice and the through adoption of the appropriate
Environment Agency Pollution Prevention Guidance.
7.1.6 The proposed works will be designed to be compliant with Article 4.1 (a)(i-iii) as they will seek
to prevent the ecological and chemical deterioration of the waterbodies’ status.
7.1.7 Consequently, the proposals once designed in agreement with required regulatory authorities
will not hamper the waterbody’s objective to retain its Moderate status and are thus deemed
compliant with the Water Framework Directive.
