MSAR IMO is a lesser of the two evils. MSAR does have some greener credentials over HFO. I noticed recently this article was suggesting low sulphur fuel oil is more toxic than HSFO.

MSAR is the best of a bad bunch i.e fossil fuels. We don't have cost effective alternatives to plug and play right now. Don't feel guilty for supporting MSAR, msar in combination with EGCS IMO Its a greener solution to current oil based fuels.

For vessels running open loop only they could have dual fuel capability meaning when steaming on the high seas they will switch to open loop MSAR/HSFO consummation then in restricted port mode switch to low sulfer fuel.

Stokey - the point I was trying to make was that Governments need to mandate and legislate to drive policy towards meeting those climate change targets we have already agreed to regardless of weather this is all a hoax we have committed to these accords, having lived and worked in Norway they are very much pro environment even though they are a big fossil fuel producer. We could and should follow suit.

Now Companies like Velocys are working towards producing Biofuels for aviation. On the Hydrogen side can H2 and fuel cells power Aircraft. Well the turbines are big air compressors so in theory those compressors could be driven by electric motors couldn't they. I came across this wonder fuel earlier which I posted on the ITM power BB and sounds very interesting:-
