The Ontario Dam uses a massive man made lake to supply the turbines during peak power then in off peak water is pumped into the dam as battery storage. The modern equivalent of that massive lake could be Hydrogen production and storage.

For years now the mind set has been that fossil fuels are cheap and this is maybe why mankind has flourished however we have created a polluted and perhaps very expensive environment for future generations to deal with. Changing that mindset and adopting Hydrogen economy based on renewable s just may help offset those future costs.

• Is this considered to be attractive/positive PR?
• What has happened in the interim period of business development with YTLPS?
• What happens if those 2020 pricing opportunities do not materialise, does this project dematerialise.
• What does this project consist of supplying up to 1.8 million tons per annum of msar, is this the meat on the bone.
“The project aims to capitalise on favourable 2020 energy pricing opportunities for MSAR versus other fuels”. This tells me that at present fuel prices MSAR is uneconomic or unattractive, is this the truth of the matter.

Berty~you echo my thoughts when I read the article. Just my tuppence here. Euronav's opinion was that scrubbers onboard ships are exploiting a loophole in the IMO 2020 objectives. The regulations on the exhaust gas cleaning systems are to set by IMO. Typically loopholes are closed once found to be exploited. However the IMO guidelines although somewhat grey and still evolving do reference Regulation 4 of MARPOL Annex VI allows for “equivalences”, meaning ships can use higher sulfur fuel with abatement technology such as scrubbers. Is this why we see such a high adoption and $ investment in marine scrubber systems. The environmental aspect worth a discussion here is the Sulfur itself. Whether taken out at source or scrubbed out when used, still produces sulfur, it doesn't disappear. Some argue that the removal of sulfur at source has a higher carbon footprint than removed downstream i.e when consumed as fuel. The later puts the sulfur into the Ocean which researchers say will have a negligible environmental impact in the decades to come although I would have thought that the impact alone may be negligible but has this additional factor been considered as part of the whole given the ph of the Oceans in some areas are changing. A similar scrubber benefit not being touted too much is the scrubbing of the NOX which must be a good thing. Perhaps a further benefit would be in conjunction with MSAR where some of that Nox is not produced in the first place.

Northcoat _ Your earlier post suggested the Company or JV was either to be sold off or you inferred chapter 11. This undoubtedly spooked investor sentiment and sent the share price south as you used your earlier, supposedly credible post which advised the plant was shutdown suggesting you had the inside nose on things. This is IMO is what sparked the last RNS. Now you are saying rather than investigating the leak they are being investigated for fraudulent claim, I'm not buying that. Whatever your motives, you appear on this BB to spread fear, uncertainty and doubt i.e a F.U.D merchant.

The IMO’s regulatory change to the emissions of the international marine sector has the potential to be highly disruptive to the pricing and availability of compliant fuels. The costs of ocean going freight will increase as the marine sector uses more costly fuels, which has wide reaching consequences across the global economy.
