Correct me if I am wrong but surely it has no bearing at all on who may or may not be the governments sovereign test ( or whatever the term is nowadays

I don't share the qualms of those who are reading something sinister (as opposed to stupid) into the provision exempting current Government tests from the new qualification standards.
Innova imo are gone. I would be surprised if their web site or their you tube vids return. If the government were still holding a candle for them they could have extended the EUA for more than 10 weeks.
The exemption clause imo would make total sense to a civil servant. It's all to do with (in a general sense ) preserving continuity. Also perhaps to preserve Government blushes if they have to actively ban one of their tests (as opposed to just not continuing with it)
The new provisions however are for the purpose of widening the pool of tests to encourage good ones into the fold.
We may even find that Al has been consulted in framing them?

There is no reason to suppose AVCT are involved in the dispute Vanilla and no need for an RNS about it from us.
In fact its a bit ironic but compared it seems to the majority of the diagnostics industry Al has been remarkably restrained apart from a couple of pointed RNS remarks.

Different British diagnostic companies appear to be going about things in different ways (maybe AVCT will sell to Europe and not the UK).
We know of the difficulties being faced by Abingdon and NCYT and we saw the BBBB tweet at the weekend. And it does seem sometimes that the Government are keeping ODX hanging on a string.
The anger and frustration in the British diagnostics industry seems palpable.

100% agree with your post CautiousOptimist. Unless there is something wrong with the way our brains are wired we will be affected by continual unjustified negativity even if if it is obvious nonsense.

One note of caution. There is nothing wrong with negativity per se. The poster who can be negative when required but is not a troll is like gold dust. We should all be savvy enough to know the difference (and not need to be informed by our peers who is a troll and who is not)

This is a really strange day for me.
To explain I am a Scottish football fan.
We have travelled from the "Beat the World" hubris of 1978 through the puzzling stage when a team of world beaters never lived up to its potential then the depths of despondency when despite the awareness we were pants our team nevertheless would flatter to deceive while finding ever more imaginative ways to pluck defeat from the jaws of victory and yet here we are and the question on every Scots fans lips is "What if...……"
Then as an AVCT investor this is also a day when we are on the cusp...……
Its the same question on our lips but as an AVCT investor asked not wistfully but with a sense of confidence and expectation.

I don't think that from the governments perspective they went out to be devious in their dealings with the nation in the initial choosing of Innova.
Boris is a gambler and the vaccine gamble has so far paid off for the benefit of the nation.
The nature of his gamble with Innova imo was to spend humungous sums of taxpayers money on a test without bothering too much about its provenance or whether the makers had doctored their figures. Operation Moonshot had to proceed (inclusive of those who consumed cheeseburgers) and Innovas promise of practically unlimited supply at cheap prices made Boris (or more probably Dominic Cummings) eyes light up.
We've heard Doms testimoney in another context of the civil service being told to do what they had to do without worrying about legal consequences.
The government presumably thought they had covered "a multitude of sins" by becoming the manufacturers of the test themselves.
On one level all the above imo is understandable and forgiveable.
But imo what is not so forgiveable is the wholesale neglect and worse of the potentially worldbeating UK diagnostics industry.
Maybe the penny is dropping now.

What a stark difference between two companies in the same space.
One private one public.
One unaccountable one very cogniscant of its responsibilities.
Innova seem to have imo considered themselves to be bullet proof.
Having sweet talked the government taken in the MHRA and done goodness knows what to pass Porton Down and impress Sir John Bell IMO their fatal mistake was to think they could then tweak the noses of the FDA (God bless the FDA) with impunity.
You can say that their test was better than no test but that doesn't wash with me.
IMO we have had no assistance from the powers that be whatsoever.
The very suspicious Chinese beginnings of the Innova test have been ignored and no doubt some would still like to ignore them.
Ndt has been spamming the chat boards with pleas not to be complicit in crushing Innova to the extent of turning the British public from LFT's entirely.
A fallacious argument in my view.

We will never know who may have lost out because of the drop because they will be licking their wounds and not be inclined to share on a BB.
IMO this share more than most others because of its popularity has a large percentage of folks for whom this may be the first or one of the first shares they have ever owned.
Such folks sadly are dripping roasts for the market "wolves".
Think of it in general terms.
Our huge financial services industry makes great profits for the professionals involved be it the tens of thousands of financial advisers or the ever growing numbers of hedgefunds etc etc.
This is not just a magic money tree. The money has to come from somewhere and it carries on rolling in whether or not the stock market is going up or down. Where there are winners there have to be loosers.
And the loosers include those who pay hand over fist for duff financial advice and most retail investors who try to trade (especially those - like me - who are not into TA).
i've said it before I'm wet behind the ears at TA but I acknowledge that as a retail investor that makes me analogous to someone who goes to a foreign country and doesn't learn the language.
My solution which in the last year has made me a winner and not a loser?
Pick a company that is a world beater buy into it and hold like grim death.
I like to think Warren Buffett would approve.

The MHRA were already sceptical about the way the government were using Innova.
No way they will get their emergency use authorisation extended now

The most damning part is that the clinical data doesn't match their claims.
They can't magic up new clinical data now (or ever)

Fair point gemstar and I know tecbadger would remind us of the same point.
However Innovas home use authorisation by the MHRA only lasts till 22 June.
MHRA are still reviewing it.
Theyve expressed displeasure at the way the government have "stretched" the terms of the authorisation.
I am expecting the MHRA to authorise us for home use with or without innova.
That won't replace Porton Down (or agreed alternative) but it will do fine while the appropriate studies and authorisations chug on in the background

He's told us on the one hand that the delay in submission for Mhra wont cause a delay to first commercial sales.
Then separately he has told us that he is confident NOW that our test will play a significant part in our economy and society returning to normal.
In the last presentation he had made the point that the only way to sell into the UK atm is through the government.
Is there any other conclusion to be drawn than the obvious one?

We can only make assumptions as best we can but it seems to me that the evidence suggests we (who as has been pointed out are a small early stage diagnostics company) have been having to punch above our weight and past experience when negotiating the headwinds of changing government policy, technical difficulties in achieving scalable manufacture, achieving manufacturing capacity and promoting ourselves and our product.
Despite all the above we find ourselves not only still with our heads above water (which is in itself something) but the independent owners of arguably the best LFT in the world, masters of our own destiny (unlike some), and about to embark on a big commercial adventure in order to enable our science diagnostic and therapeutic (which is where our expertise really lies) to benefit the world.
In the meantime certain of our number with pint sized brains will continue to carp about the short term share price
