I only buy for trading when I feel the price is a little too low and likely to rise over a week.
Sometimes it happens in a few minutes, sometimes a few weeks.
If I knew more than that, I would be too busy entertaining a fleet of dusky maidens on a beach in the South Pacific to post here.

Sajid Javid announced extra cash for CC's (pre-election campaign statement last week).
Nevertheless I think they will still be thinking about how they can get more.
Net result should be as you suggest.

PS.
I was looking to buy more UKOG but something else came up in between and I used the cash on that (14% in one day).

I have two strategies for UKOG.
Bulk of my holding is for larger gains over long term (next sell is 10p).

I also buy and sell for smaller gains over much shorter term (I'm happy to target lots of 5% gains inside a week, or few days if possible).
But I'll only do that if I feel a share is stuck within a certain hi-lo range.
Otherwise I'm less comfortable with where it may end up.
At the moment I have no short trades on UKOG (last one sold on 02Sep for 5% on a Buy from 28Aug).

I got no trades at the moment.
Only long-holds.
Next sell for me is 10p.
I do think that's possible, even probable.
But I'm not expecting it this year.

To be fair though I didn't think it would go over 1.2p this week either, which is why I don't have any short trades to sell. lol
I have trades on other shares and will do UKOG again if it finds a new range again.

That's more realistic than 1.5p I saw mentioned elsewhere.
And CERTAINLY more than 5p-7p, lolol.

There seem to be more rampers than derampers on this board to me.

At least DHC refers to factual issues which may have rather more worth for consideration than the interminable "Today's going to be awesome!".

Because the SP is already rocketing in anticipation of the SP being £1.00.
I mean, if you thought the SP would be worth £1.00 in two years you'd be buying right now in preparation, wouldn't you?
Along with everyone else who thought so.
And it's because everyone else is investing so heavily that the price has already risen so much recently, right?

@Legalease. Yep, agree.
UKOG was awesome for that a while ago but its' volatility has tapered off recently.
Although it can be up and down a lot, its' spread can be less than 5% a week or longer.
Return isn't worth the risk for me on that alone (will buy in if I think 5%+ inside a week is a fairly surefire bet).
I don't see it returning as much as that, as often, again for a while though.
May be wrong, just how I feel.
It's volatile in bursts which I can't predict enough to take a punt on.
I do still trade UKOG when a suitable occasion arises and am holding some shares in my back pocket for the long term as well.
But I've mostly found alternatives to trade quickly, which behave the way UKOG used to.

Interesting observation.
Talk about using statistics.

Over the previous five months it had fallen 35%.
So actually it's only recovered around 40%, from where it fell to.
It's still down 13% on the six month period.
It's down 85% from this date one year ago.
But yes, if you only consider the last month, then it's up 40%.
Well, 1.13p from 0.83p, 36%.
Lol.

Don't get too hung up on all the hype, especially [most of] what's posted here.
There are some big developments coming for this business and its' SP but we're still a way off the lottery win many are espousing.
There will be some excitement after the meeting but I still see the SP sluggish until next year.
The next tranche of shares I'm holding currently* will sell at 10p.
But that's long term and I don't see it this year at all.

*Not holding any shares for immediate trading at the current range, but would certainly consider a buy back if the price falls again.

I wish they'd call it what it actually is, "Extortion Rebellion".
