To be fair, Mississippi is just trying to protect its $5b farm-meat industry, mostly chicken poultry. Farmers are powerful in America. That's why the cultured meat industry has gotta get smarter about how it describes its food. Get away from perceptions of "lab meat" or "petri-dish food" (as per article), and start to promote "blended food" or "fermented meat", or whatever. US farmers for now are going to continue being a US roadblock, that's well known.

If that article had been written in the US, we'd be hooting and hollering about our cutting-edge tech firms on the brink of yet again creating another trillion-dollar industry.

Heavy rate cuts are too risky. Council tax, NI tax, car tax, the ridiculous gas-leccy cap are all soaring 5-20% from Apr 2025. Inflation is heading back up and not under control. What's more, at the end of the day, rate cuts are just a short-term sticky plaster. They don't address Britain's long-term economic millstones of low productivity, relentless state overreach, a poor management class, rubbish banks, and so on.
