To be fair, there is no "scam" on the car loan claims. When a car dealer is charging enormous £2k hidden commission (cost) on a little £7k car, then you know something is not quite right, and needs investigation followed by reparations.

Tariffs are not being thrown about irresponsibly. They're being thrown about responsibly -- to close America's yawning trade gap. You import a US car to the UK, you pay a +30% tariff. UK to US is less than +10% tariff. You can see why Trump wants to rebalance trade with Europe and elsewhere.

Tbh, it wouldn't be a surprise to see the EU, UK and others roll over in the coming days, offer Trump a fresh tariff deal, followed by a huge rally in the S&P500 😉

This goes against all known evidence and facts, and is demonstrably not true.

Russia's ceasefire in Dagestan has held. The ceasefire in Chechnya has held. The ceasefire in Georgia has held. The ceasefire in Crimea held strong, until the EU and US re-poked the bear. Russia and Putin have stuck repeatedly to agreed ceasefires for the past quarter of a century. What's more, Russia lives quite happily alongside Belarus, Kazakhstan, and many other neighbours. Get the terms of the deal right, draw the correct lines in the sand, and Putin will agree and hold a ceasefire. History shows that.

The "bickering" between Russia, Ukraine, the US and EU is just theatre for the masses. No side in public wants to rollover and look weak. They all want to look argumentative and strong. Stand up for their people. There will be a few more weeks of jostling and jockeying, then a deal will get done. I reckon a full ceasefire will be in place by May 2025 👍

Yes, the mendacious and subversive reportage by mainline UK and European legacy media is horrific. The readers who swallow it whole are even worse. The EU slammed Chinese EV cars with +35% tariffs in 2024, and it caused barely a ripple in the press.

Net-zero hysteria and zealotry has made steel production unviable in the UK. We have by far the highest industrial electricity prices on the entire planet. A UK steel factory will pay about £300 per MWh to heat their furnace. A China factory will pay about £50 per MWh. Throw in the out-of-control minimum-wage spiral, the greedy NI overtax, a looming tsunami of unnecessary red tape for worker bureaucracy, and you've got a perfect storm for industrial steel collapse.

Some bloke in Wales bought a little Suzuki car for £6,500, and the dealer got paid an astronomical £1,600 finance commission on it! Absolutely nuts. No wonder the FCA is up in arms about car loans.

Nailed it. The UK was the world's fastest-growing G7 economy in 2021, 2022 and H1 2024. UK unemployment hit a half-century low in 2022, and job vacancies were the highest ever on record. Fast-forward to H1 2025, and growth has plunged to -0.1% and effectively in recession. Labour has taken a wrecking ball to the UK economy.

Surprised people still invest in UK (so-called) high-dividend stocks. What is the point in investing in MNG for its +10% annual dividend, when the share price has plunged -13% in the past year! There's no point to it.

Overall, the London stockmarket is utterly broken. Most stocks go down (not up), and it's just a market of relentless misery to the downside. See MNG, for an example.

Lol at the OBR 2025 "forecasts". They have halved in weeks, from 2% to 1%. And now we're expected to take their 2029 "forecasts" seriously! Lol.

There's a guy on YouTube who imported a US car (Dodge) to the UK. He started off around £55k for the car... then he was told to pay 20% VAT... then, another 10% import tax on top... He (UK) had to pay 2 enormous tariffs, to buy in a US car, amounting to about +30% extra tax. The US equivalent (going the other way) is roughly between 2-10%. You can see why Trump is not happy 👍

Yup, the misery never ends. UK was the fastest-growing major G7 economy worldwide in H1 2024. Today, in H1 2025, we're basically in recession, swamped in a tsnumai of nasty tax hikes and brutal austerity.

Not sure anyone trusts the ONS stats anymore. They've clearly done Robber Reeves a favour by nudging the inflation % figures right before the Spring Budget.
