Yes, the US patchwork quilt of food-regulation laws is always going to be a headwind for ANIC (and others in the worldwide sector). ANIC management needs to do a better and clearer job of spelling out to shareholders precisely where their US risk is (and is not).

Think of it this way -- when you buy £10k of LLOY shares, your dealer (broker) always has a separate line-item showing their commission *before* you click buy (e.g. £10). They never hide it. There is no secret commission. That's the proper and open way to run a business 👍

Can't see them rolling back the "secret commission" ruling by the Court of Appeal (COA). If the Supreme Court (SC) rules secret commissions are acceptable for car dealers, it will give the green light to any other UK industry in the future that wants to keep ramping up their secret commission and not tell the consumer about it. Cars, motorbikes, bicycles, e-bikes, sofas, smartphones, anything you ever buy on tick. It would encourage a whole shadow economy of secret finance. The SC won't want that.

The MoD is living in cuckoo land. The UK manufacturing and defence sectors have been decimated in the past 25-50 years. Defence exports have totally collapsed this century. The hard-steel industry (for hard weapons) has disappeared. The remaining shipyards are a joke -- Scotland can't even make a ferry. The collective management skills to ramp up military defence have vaporised along with the closed army-air-sea bases. Millions of civilian workers are on the (well-paid) dole or sick and will never want to toil in a dirty weapons factory, meaning severe staff shortages will be a permanent headwind. Absolutely guarantee the UK will not shift away from US kit. The MoD and the country no longer have the infrastructure, wealth or skills to do so.

Never really understood the economic fascination with Europe. US GDP per head today is a staggering +50% higher than the EU, while US annual growth is 2-3 times faster. It's clear that the world's strongest economy today and tomorrow will be found in the fast US, not slow old Europe. Not to mention the world's strongest military. And the world's tech capital. And the world capital of almost all modern culture, such as Hollywood film or NY music. Europe really has very little left going for it. The continued obsession with the EU is as bizarre as it is outdated!

As for Russia, Gate -- as posted a few days ago, we are currently in the "ceasefire theatre" phase. All sides want to look strong, not weak. They're all going to throw public tantrums. It is expected. Ceasefires always take months to negotiate, not days. Patience is king. A partial ceasefire was achieved in March, I expect a semi-ceasefire in April, and then a full or near-full ceasefire by May. Peace is coming one step at a time.

The full pricing details of the car loans were not disclosed. Only partial pricing was disclosed. Full pricing was not disclosed. That means full-price comparison with other car loans was not possible. The consumer is at an unfair advantage.

Check this example, from a Wales consumer who paid £2k commission on a £7k car. He could neither agree nor disagree on whether to pay the commission, because he hadn't fully seen it. The buyer didn't (couldn't) give his "informed consent" to the commission payment.

Nope. A free-market economy must operate on full pricing transparency. Overt pricing is essential. The DCA car loans were covert pricing. You cannot run a free market on un-free pricing.

Yup, the EU are the villain here, not Trump. The EU has been over-tariffing the US, and under-paying into Nato, for decades (decades). Trump has finally put a stop to it.
