Since Brexit, the UK has surged past France to become the world's 4th largest exporter. Being in the over-regulated EU was a millstone around exporters' necks. Better to be independent, like the US.

Given Trump stopped the Russia-Germany (Merkel) gas pipeline, losing Putin a future revenue stream in excess of a trillion Euros, it's highly unlikely that Trump is in Russia's pocket or kompromat.

Rich economies are built on cheap energy. The British Empire ran on coal, the American Empire runs on oil and gas. If the UK reopened the North Sea, and opened up the multi-trillion-barrel shale fields from Dover to Aberdeen, UK GDP would be growing at 3-5% by 2030. Euphoria would be everywhere across the entire country.

The idea that getting a few old grannies to stick their spare ISA cash in a FTSE 100 tracker is somehow going to magically turn the UK into a roaring tiger economy is beyond laughable.

Yes, bio-security and bio-inflation are the next big thing for cultured food and drink. Look at the devastation being wrought right now by avian flu (chicken / eggs), swine flu (pigs), wilt fungus (olive oil), summer drought (cocoa), overfishing (tuna), among many others.
