Rising unemployment and falling job hires are a classic sign of recession. Know 3 people looking for a new job, and they're finding it almost impossible. Nothing out there. You can smell the fear in the air. I'd say we are already in UK recession today in Q1 2025.

It's interesting to compare the UK headlines with the US headlines, on this historic day. America gets wealth, growth, optimism. UK gets decline, recession, fear. One common language, two different worlds.

Feel sorry for Denmark. They are getting kicked out by America. But it's probably the right longterm decision. China and / or Russia will invade Greenland, if the US doesn't get there first. Trillions and trillions of dollars of oil, gas, minerals, precious stones, and fertile land in the ultra-strategic Arctic will soon become available as the ice melts. Denmark and the EU are too weak and small to defend it all. Only America can save Greenland.

This is looking more and more like Britain's 6th major financial crisis in just 25 years. Every time we get off the ropes, there is yet another body blow to the gut. The pound is cratering, gilts are crashing, FTSE is slumping, inflation is roaring back, state debt is out of control and risks becoming unpayable, tax is out of control, misery and fear are everywhere, recession is looming. How much more can this country take?

The talk in the past few hours now is of a 1970s-style financial crisis. UK 30-year gilt has leapt to an incredible 5.4%. Alarm bells are ringing. The currency and bond markets are starting to disbelieve the Treasury's claim that UK finances are "orderly"... Batten down the hatches 👍

Looking at the numbers being talked about, every single man, woman and child in Greenland could get £30m cash deposited in their bank account by 2030. If it were me, and I lived in Greenland, I'd be all over the US offer like a rat up a drainpipe.

As Musk posted yesterday, the UK is once again on the brink of yet another financial crisis. Gilt yields are now higher than even at the worst point of Truss's unaudited budget mess. The bond market is flashing red. Starmer and Reeves, in just 6 months, have sent the entire UK economy into a tailspin.

Some shocking info in that FT article. One Welsh dealer sold a car and received a quarter of the vehicle’s entire purchase price in (hidden) finance commission!

To be fair, any good or bad LLOY news gets posted on here in a flash. The DCA car loans, PPI 2, windfall tax, branch closures, divvy roadmap, and so on. Elon Musk -- the world's richest man -- is tweeting on X in the past couple hours that Starmer has "created a financial crisis for Britain" and calling for him to go.

Since the General Election was called in May 2024, the FTSE 100 has plunged -200 points, the GBP has plunged -3% against the benchmark USD, and gilts have risen to their worst level this century. Well done, Labour 👍
