Netherlands/Equador followed by England/USA followed by the last 5 on I'm a Celeb. That's got to be a nice little earner plus maximum exposure to ITVX launch at peak viewing. It doesn't get much better for ITV who's broadcasting arm is effectively in for free when valuing the studios. Solid, and set for some nice surprise viewing and advertising figures in this quarter.

The more the England goals the greater the advertising spend over the tournament. Great news for viewing figures as England progress and ITV pick up their game share...

I agree bald_eagle. Looking back to 2014 Liberty Global (owner of Virgin Media) bought 6.4% of ITV off Sky for £481m and then purchased 140m (3.5%) for £2.15 a share in 2015. The average costing was virtually £2.00 a share from rough back of cig packet calcs. Minus the dividend income from time of purchase which totals around 35p so Liberty is currently holding 9.9% of ITV shares at a realtime cost of £1.65 And that does not account for the loss of value due to inflation over the past 8 years. Result, Liberty is running a substantial loss. It stated initially that it regarded it's exposure to TV, especially FTA and cable as essential; how much greater that must be as ITVX rolls out. Interesting as it's position regarding increasing its stake again may resurface. AdLabs is extremely undervalued IMO.

ITV has updated users on the progress of the rollout of ITVX. Since yesterday (Nov 17th) ITVX has popped up on a number of devices well before the official launch date. But Premium access is still limited.

ITVX is an out-of-the-box game winner for ITV. It will transform audience viewing profiles and allow ITV AdLab to use it's ground-breaking AI audience targeting to bring in huge advertiser numbers. Shows like Tell Me Everything will be available on ITVX from 8 December. This is new and will become a 'must watch' for all. You heard it here first. The uphill stone-rolling that marks my handle stops here......to the universe and beyond..ad Astra.....

What's the average buy-in cost for Liberty's holding? Anyone genned-up as to what their 10% has cost them?

The studios are a huge cash cow for ITV so I agree with you in principle. Having said that, the frustration of the CEO and BoD is tangible. Their share purchases and comments show just how undervalued they view the company as a whole. It makes absolute sense to check just what suitors would be willing to pay to acquire such a valuable asset as the studios. Logically, any offers could then be used to leverage existing value in the whole whether the sale is pursued or not. It looks like a win-win move given indications being mooted by analysts. Any mention of an indicative value of £2bn or more would immediately provoke a market reaction and upgrade. Fait Accomplit. Clever move and certain to elicit a wide range of interest......and if multiple parties expressed an interest then that would certainly push the company to a higher level. Solid company...lots of positive triggers in view. The AdLab innovations certainly differentiate ITV from the competition when advertising budgets are being constrained. Solid.

Would love to know what progress is being made behind the scenes regarding possible sale of ITV studios as it would give idea of intrinsic value. Opinions from analysts are very diverse depending on bidder but £2bn to £4.5bn has been indicated....both of which look extremely healthy regarding the current total MCap of the whole company. Excellent earnings with or huge capital gain without and a BoD openly considering options. Solid.

No, I think they bought at the time they felt that the shares were considerably oversold, as is still the case. Citadel shorting only amplified the drop. The negative reaction in Spring to ITVX was unexpected and the clear resolve of the BoD to rectify that was evident. The valuation of the studios equates to the current MCap meaning that ITVX is in for zilch. Given all the current media exposure given to I'm a Celeb, FIFA World Cup coverage from weekend,and ITVX launch on Dec 8th I still expect this to move strongly north and retake 80p before continuing its trajectory. The concern being paid to negatives is overdone IMO and I agree that these pullbacks offer excellent opportunities to increase holdings. Solid stock with good divi and strong cash flow.

It's logical that the rapid climb should 'take a breather' as buyers and sellers reassess and rebalance. We are still well below the price at which many directors have paid this year and their vision is somewhat clearer than ours. The FIFA cup and imminent launch of ITVX should both focus more investor sentiment as they occur. Jury is out on the effect of tomorrow's mini budget as a lot of the possible grief is already priced in. Personally, I think a solid, well-balanced budget plan will strengthen the investment market in the UK.

More likely to take a quick breath before taking a run at 80p again.......once the psychological 80p goes then we will establish new short term base for next leg. Too many short term positive triggers in prospect here to fall back heavily.
