I've given you the benefit of my informed decisions to invest here in ITV and every one still stands. Tomorrow will see the official launch of ITVX with comprehensive details of all the benefits going into 2023 and beyond. The figures will speak for themselves with the next update. Unlike those who continually berate Carolyn McCall I am happy at the way she steered the company through all the Covid restrictions imposed on studios in particular during 2020 and 2021. ITVX is essential for ITV to flourish despite its few dissenters. She has a clear vision where she sees both media and studios and is as frustrated as are all investors at the undervaluation here. She will use the same latent drive that she showed at Eazijet to drive ITV forward. You either agree with that or not. If you do, stay on board, if you don't, then go follow another company....simple. Solid company.
Initial interest in ITVX looks very encouraging as we are still 6 days off official launch. If company can maintain that momentum by maximum media exposure next week then it looks a lot rosier than the Spring dissenters would have us believe. Content looks good and download was pretty smooth and slick. All bodes well for decent uptake and low churn moving into 2023. This quarter should exceed expectations given all the positive triggers and cement this recovery stage and transition to digital streaming over FTV.
Having said that we seem to have a significant buyer(s) in the wing to mop up loose shares as is indicated by the big end of day settlements seen recently. They seem to have a floor price of the 20d ma around 75p. Could be closing shorts or accumulations??
Just normal trading pattern for this time of year. 8am tends to be individual investors probably shifting funds around pre Christmas before institutional repositioning occurs for 2023 when we should start to see incremental rises into Jan. Bwthdik.
Price just bounced north of the 20day ma tracking up whilst the hugely relevant 50day ma is just cutting north through the 100day ma. All 3 MA's ate now rising. Time to hit that 79.88 ceiling and break through into fresh ground.
This should reinforce the upward momentum as it indicates the change in investor sentiment is becoming self fulfilling. Fall backs may occur but the market is now moving the price north to it's fair value over time. Solid.
Agreed. I think that is why McCall has highlighted the discrepancy between ITV intrinsic value and current share price. I think the previous poster is being unduly critical. She has steered the company through Covid and has grasped the need to embrace digital head-on. She realises the huge value in the IP content library that can be capitalised through ITVX, the value of the studios business and the effect that AdLabs will have on advertiser engagement. The market still does not understand what these assets are worth in the wider market. McCall is trying to get UK fund managers to appreciate the potential here whilst inevitably exposing that undervaluation to potential suitors/predators. A very fine line but she appears to be playing an astute game hence my opinion that her dissenters are being unduly and prematurely harsh. Solid.
To be honest the BoD and Carolyn McCall must be as frustrated as we are given their comments on the underlying value of ITV. The CEO's obvious frustration at the low MCap being afforded to the company was apparent in her comment about the value of the studios element alone being equal to the current price. Yes, advertising budgets will be under pressure, which is why audience targeting is key and AdLabs AI is at the forefront in its positive trials with Boots and Sainsburys, both of who are impressed. The sheer size of the media programme library held by ITV is huge. ITVX provides the means to capitalise it. All in all, I see it heading in the right direction and 55p should prove to have been the wake-up nadir. If the current team can't exploit the future then there are plenty of suitors out there who can see the hidden value here. Programme content alone is exceptional. Yes there will be hurdles along the way but ITVX was an inevitable evolution of FTA and ITV has the edge of a must-have government media provider like the BBC. Solid.
