Talking of the USA, my BIL is in a Miami hospital this weekend having a tumor removed on his liver. There were complications which would normally require him to be moved to an ICU, couldn't be done because the ICU is fully occupied by covid patients. Thankfully he's in a private room with 24hr care instead but it just goes to show how bad it is in the US while the media aren't exactly covering it.

The BILs daughter works as a paediatric nurse in Miami, testing kids as young as infants non stop at the moment.

My sister took on a new employee on Monday, mid 20s and unvaccinated (reckoned she didn't need it). Didn't want to wear a mask at work, which my sister has every right to require. Tested positive for covid Wednesday after she appeared to have symptoms and my sister had sent her to get tested. Now off work, pretty sick. My sister is smart enough to be vaccinated.

Florida is a basket case and there are states with lower vax numbers. The US will never reach herd immunity through vaccination. I think they recorded 100k cases yesterday and schools return next week with no mask mandate in many states although at least some of the under 18s are vaccinated.

Whatever the outcome of the resolution, if poidsters info is correct it means the NHS have burnt through their supply of promate which was forecast to last through 2021. The DHSC clearly didn't bank on another wave and in reality only had around 2-3 months worth at current testing levels. I don't see PCR dropping off in August with possibly another ramp up September onwards when kids head back to school and the weather turns driving people indoors more.

@poidster, I take no pleasure in reading that because obviously the average NHS employee working in pathology labs etc will have no idea why they can't get hold of the product they've ordered. I imagine they're getting frustrated.

However, we couldn't just shovel out stock to an organization who decided not to pay their bills. Something has to give , hopefully an amicable solution is reached. One which involves us getting paid and the NHS getting on with what it does best.

If so then yes I agree, don't vote. There's nowhere near enough institutional interest here to push anything through if there's a threshold of around 25%. Poses a problem for them with the ratification of the new CEO. May explain their desire to put him in front of a camera prior to the AGM.

Make sure you vote on all resolutions next month. Mullis may be retiring but the rest of these oxygen thieves will no doubt be looking to feather their nests. Be particularly wary of any resolution allowing them to dilute shareholders and bring onboard institutions at mates rates. They'll be scrambling around for votes next month.

It's little surprise with TUI, the LFT they use is garbage hence why their travel package costs as little as 20 quid. The dispute is holding us back though, we can't make acquisitions because the cash from the contract is tied up until the dispute is resolved. While the chances of making a full refund are small, it's still a possibility. There's nothing to prevent price sensitive news prior to the meeting, all they mean is that no price sensitive news will be announced during the meeting for those participating, much like an AGM.

What does the board plan to do about the huge imbalance between institutional and private investor holdings, how will they go about selling the company to institutions without diluting existing shareholders when there is no requirement to raise cash and they appear reticent to buy in the open market at what are 12 month lows.

Poidster, they can't divulge price sensitive information during the meeting. There's nothing to prevent it being announced prior though. They must surely realize that the dispute is the single biggest issue concerning shareholders at the moment. To hold this meeting and seek to dodge or ignore this issue will not go down well at all. I have to hope they have this much self awareness.

Yes, they also have one coming out this quarter which can descriminate between natural antibodies and vaccine based immunity. Not sure whether it will be qualitative and quantitative though, ie indicate antibody levels as well.

I would sincerely hope DA isn't left to clear up the dispute not least of all because he isn't going to take the reigns until mid October. We're reportedly in the process of an 'alternative dispute resolution', they have a finite lifespan, I don't see how it can drag out until then.

GM doesn't have to be in on it, a potential suitor may see the company as rudderless and vunerable with significant cash and a lot of ongoing business. There are only 4 companies (iirc) on the NHS framework, one of them could acquire us and effectively capture 50% of that available business for themselves which isn't insignificant. Covid isn't going to disappear in 2021, regardless of peoples wishes.

Well there's never a better time for a takeover than between CEOs or when a CEO is at the end of their tenure.
