Mattboy, I tend to agree with you, but there is another potential narrative here. If the production facility has to be reopened, to meet orders as you say, but the cash runway is a bit short, closing another (smaller) facility could save a bit of cash. By rationalise I mean having one site instead of two. It is not enough to be profitable, you need to be solvent too. Regards, SimonV

Bilboburgler, it appears to be lab based with no discussion relating to the transition to cost effective commercial plants.

What! No informed comment on this subject raised by Mick-b? I would welcome comment from someone better versed in this technology than I am. Particular questions I have relate to producing and maintaining electrodes with the necessary small gas passages for commercial operation. I would welcome some further comment.......

I would like to know more about the challenges preventing the processing of raw domestic refuse through a gasification plant? What pre-sorting is necessary and how much of this is easily automated? What proportion of profitability is providing a municipal domestic refuse disposal service?

Mainmane, clearly there will be a prolonged gas shortage, which could be reduced by the addition of carbon free hydrogen. The Recharge article suggests this has been recognised in continental Europe. So now there are political, economic and environmental reasons to increase hydrogen production. Not everyone appreciates that gas supplies can contain up to 20% hydrogen without issue.

I would guess (hope and pray) that it has dawned on some politician that if they were to produce hydrogen from excess electricity production it could be used to add 25% (ie 20% of total) to the volume of gas we have without increasing carbon dioxide emissions.
