That's nowhere near enough. Only 10% of the company. Slater has more than that. Probably majority of PI's would reject it as well. A hostile takeover occurs when an acquiring company attempts to take over a target company against the wishes of the target company's management. An acquiring company can achieve a hostile takeover by going directly to the target company's shareholders or fighting to replace its management. (The latter could of course happen and be accepted).

Actually we don't know how many shares the instis actually still own. They only have to declare if they have more than 3% and that is around 90 million shares (no TR1 was issued by the Gates fund). It might be useful to add up all the shares on the broker platforms which might give us a rough idea as to how many are held by PIs. The "hostile" in the takeover would still of course have to come to all the shareholders to have it accepted. People would just have to make sure they rejected a silly bid.

If that is the case if an offer comes in from IRH we would have to hope that the other possible partner )or partners) puts in an opposing bid and starts a war. Could get quite complicated.
