Just a follow on re ACE2, as I know there's a few people here interested in these technicalities.

The new 'nicer' version of ACE2 (which is the one stimulated by interferon) appears to have been independently discovered by another research team, and interestingly this team includes 2 Synairgen people: Donna Davies and Ratko Djukanovic.

The question is, can they start digging beyond the original 5 acres before the appeal period expires (and the other minor permits come through)? Probably not. Also, if they do then have another round of bulk tests, remember that concrete is typically given 28 days to cure before being tested. So we might still be looking at a couple of months before customers (or buyers, or takeoverers) finally commit.

I don't want to come across as pessimistic, I'm just saying not to start panicking if the big RNS doesn't arrive for a while. Fortunately the LTH's here have had a lot of practice at being patient, so I'm sure we can hold on just a little longer.

There's this in the RNS :

"Parties that are adversely affected by the BLM decision to authorise mining operations can appeal
this decision to the BLM State Director within 30 days, as set out in the Decision Record referenced
above."

But as there were no significant objections, just a couple of technicalities, an appeal does seem extremely unlikely.

Looking back over the permitting RNS, this has to be one of the most significant parts IMHO :

"Without BLM EA permitting, the Company has been limited to five acres of surface disturbance. This limit was reached some time ago by the Company’s earlier drilling, trenching and associated road building. This has constrained the Company’s ability to excavate and supply larger samples to potential customers who are considering offtake agreements with the Company.

With this constraint now removed the Company’s prime objective is to initiate trial mining and first production of perlite and natural pozzolan for larger scale customer trials as soon as possible with the expectation that this will transition to commercial production in due course on the commitment of potential customers to offtake sales contracts."

(The Project Area covers 585 acres.)

If I'm interpreting this correctly, it means that potential customers will want to test that the product quality will remain consistent well into the future, before committing to an offtake agreement.

What the quote doesn't say is that the same argument could apply for anyone considering buying the asset or mounting a takeover.

So I'm thinking we might have to wait for one more round of testing before the big offtake/sale/takeover RNS arrives. (But if it arrives sooner I'll be happy to have been proved wrong!)

A while ago (pre-results) there was some concern here about research suggesting a mechanism whereby interferon might actually facilitate COVID, by promoting ACE2 receptors. Our results obviously didn't seem to support this theory.

I just came across this explanation of why it is indeed a non-problem.

A bit of a minor flash crash today. Some of the nasdaq portfolio companies have drifted down a bit over the last few days but doesn't seem enough to justify this. Is it just because of the £45k sell? Any ideas welcome!

Perhaps Patrick had a hangover from over-celebrating the permit approval!

Because it's a slow process, covid-related papers are being made available online in "preprint" form (i.e. pre peer review) with all the appropriate caveats. (In some cases the raw data is also made available in some sort of downloadable form.) I would hope to see that happen here soon.

Seems conclusive. In theory there could be an appeal but the chances of that must be minimal.

@seadoc : They haven't produced it yet. But I think I read somewhere that they're hard at work on it, not surprisingly.
