This was a direct attempt at market manipulation by a company that has a very dubious track record to say the least. Viceroy research have lost at least 2 cases in court; Medical Properties Trust and Capitec in the past 5 years for defamation and issuing misleading statements, which is exactly what they have done here. I believe if action were to be taken against them they would be on very dodgy ground and in the circumstances, is suspending their trading licence that outrageous?

I have already complained via the FCA portal as well as e-mailed Rathi, his team and HM treasury asking for a response to this.

I'd say that accusing Close of 'Systematically misrepresenting' it's exposure would test the bounds of legality!

Viceroy have produced a 'report' written for no other reason than to crash the share price to benefit themselves. If the FCA don't investigate this then what's the point in them.

'Just noise'??....hardly, their actions helped wipe £10's millions off CBG's value, which on turn could directly impact people's jobs and will affect pensions etc.

It's a public message board, people have the right to express whatever they want on here....that includes 'bleating' if it makes them feel better.

I'd imagine that a fair number of people have seen a considerable drop in the value of their CBG holdings due to the nefarious actions of Viceroy...FWIW I believe the FCA should suspend their licence to trade until they have conducted an investigation into this because to my mind their actions cross the line into unethical if not illegal territory.

Have the CBG board covered themselves in glory with their somewhat timid response? I'd say not.

Good luck to Knot in whatever action he chooses, he's not responsible for this debacle, but I still believe that the majority of us have been somewhat blinkered in our approach and it's a lesson to be learnt.

Huge profits and a CEO in Morgan who has firmly highlighted his inadequacies......come out fighting in response to Viceroy, not a chance, just vague management speak that spooks the markets further!

Definitely a lesson learnt for me from this debacle Birdsong; Trust you own instincts, don't get greedy and don't expect honesty from CEO's.

Missing out on exiting CBG when the SP was around £5.50 and a big profit was to be had was utter madness in hindsight.

All of the mistakes are undoubtedly my own but I think we can all admit to be slightly blinkered and being influenced by others.

It's fine saying I'm in it for the long term.....but what is the long term now.....hopefully struggle back up towards £5 in a couple of years, when we passed up selling at higher prices?

As the sh*tshow has continued this morning, wouldn't it be great if Morgan just came out and said Viceroy's report was utter b***ocks and bears not relation to reality, rather than the normal management speak. Would love to see Michael O'Leary's reaction in similar circumstances.

All part of the master plan Knot?.....couldn't be that you've misread the market and in particular the concerning signs around CBG's recent SP capitulation.

Having received mocking emails and criticism over my recent comments and concerns over the collapsing CBG share price and being told 'I'm wrong', 'it's all about the Iraq war', 'there's no possibility of any leak' etc. I deleted my account as the tone and camaraderie on this board had clearly evaporated to the extent that it was going the way of others boards, abusive and a waste of time!

I decided to post one more time under a new a/c to see it anyone had the good grace to admit that my concerns were clearly not unfounded and there was something untoward going on.....including those considered the 'forum experts.

Share prices don't fall as much as CBG has done....down from £5.50....for no apparent reason!!
