Would snap their hands off Jperry, even at £6.50-£7

It's been treading water for quite a while now, the opportunity to take a handsome profit (from £4.50) and then find another opportunity would be irresistible for me. I aim to return at least 20% in a 12 month period on any share I buy (doesn't always work out!).

With hindsight should have exited nearly 2 years ago at around £5.30 or again 11 months a go at around same price. When you consider this is now sat at around £4.50, this has hugely underperformed in those timeframes. Could have sold out some 20% higher and re-invested elsewhere (or even cash at 5% each year).

For what it's worth....maybe most interesting part is that they were negative towards many other HB's.

Wouldn't surprise Steve, they'll certainly have a go for sure but they're probably fighting a losing battle now, it shouldn't be forgotten though that they have absolutely cleaned up with this; £6.70 to £2.25 in 10 weeks! Last few days have been great BUT it's still only at £2.75. I doubt they'll be panicking or even that concerned yet.

The shrewdies on here have done well picking up shares at prices in 2.20's, 2.30's etc. but for most it has still been a utter disaster, even if averaging down.

Yeh, I don't get this at all Whatidsaytothat.

The way it's behaved over the past couple of months I'd have expected to see an increase in short holdings but these haven't really changed (those that are visible). The volumes have been low but even so, with the banking sector in general being on a bit of a run I'm puzzled as to why it's been in the doldrums.

AI says Aldermore is valued at an estimated £1.1 billion to £1.6 billion in the market, with a possible £750m exposure to finance claims.

Where would that leave Close? at a lot higher than the £670 it is currently valued at I'd suggest.

Not a great fan of AI but that is exactly how I see it....that's not to say we won't see much higher prices over the medium/longer term, but for now a jump from

lows of £2.20 to £3.50 is over 50%, which is not to be sniffed at over perhaps a few months.

That makes good reading mate, hopefully can sit back for a while and watch the profits grow.

Always nice to see anyone make good money in this game, it's not the easiest, so anytime you get it spot in should be celebrated.

Yeh that is puzzling randommix, would have expected a positive reaction but nothing at all, from any of the banks.

That's why I'm waiting for Knot, Liberty.... to return from the garden(?) to maybe hear their views on this, as on the face of it it's fantastic news.

Starting buying at £2.30, adding at prices below £2 and have been buying/selling ever since on dips/rises, keeping a large core holding.

Made lots on this and still see so much potential at £4.45; this is still a £7-£8 share, just the FCA holding it back for now.

Love banks and housebuilders, they've been great for me over the years (apart from RBS in 2008)

Yeh, I've been there with a bit of day trading, surprisingly enough, it's a lot harder than it looks to make a profit 😂

Slow and steady, with the occasional locking in of some of the profits would be the advice here I think once it starts to move.

For others on previous posts RE:SHORTS, this shorting started when Vistry was at £6.70 on March 2nd, so don't expect a huge rush for the door, they have a lot of flexibility here when you consider the profits they are currently sitting on.

Today's a well overdue start for all HB and it's easy to see a 20% upside for them over them next few months...but £6 may be wishful thinking for a bit Rick.

Bellway; which I've owned several times over the past 15 years, always made me decent money. I have someone close to me who works there in a senior position and whilst it's not exactly inside info, I do know when it's a good investment, hence my biggest investment.

Persimmon, smaller, but decent investment and Vistry a little punt which should also pay off.

These will all do very well over the coming months/years IMO.

Can sympathise with that...most of mine are just treading water or, like this, badly underperforming.

My big hope at the moment is in housebuilding I've invested heavily in a couple, at good prices (well I think so!).

Frustratingly it would seem as they start to slowly climb, I have FUTR to wipe out most of the gains.

This is the only share that I wish I'd never looked at, judgement clouded by greed probably. Never experienced losses anything like this on one share and I got in when I though it was cheap at around £5.

My, probably, overly cautious view is due in part to a share I own, purchased a few months back, that appeared to good to be true - FUTR

It had fallen sharply, mainly due to sector headwinds and it being heavily shorted. It is/was very profitable and cash generative....looked too good to be true, so I blundered in without the necessary due diligence, which is unlike me. I paid an avg of £5, it is now £2.80 and going nowhere fast.

It now has a forward P/E of 2.7, which on the face of it, is absurd but it's still not moving....A salutary lesson for me and one that I'm happy to share for others to hopefully avoid!

FYI - I still think it is outrageously cheap and will fly at some point, but who knows.
