The bottom line is, surely, that they are giving a green light while operators stick to the conditions at each stage, for them to progress through the stages through to production. If the government renague on this arrangement, I don't know if there is any comeback for the operators. However, it seems to me that if they do renague on it, they will have a big problem keeping their most vulnerable citizens alive over the next couple of winters, particularly if it's cold, so they may have to put the chance of re-election before ideological principles.

That 2 bcf Simon refers to is in the Peni*tone Flags, not what they're currently burning off, so it's in addition to current production.

Not sure that's right, Serif. There's definitely pressure building within government for fracking to proceed. Whether the leftish media will allow the truth to be told is another matter, and public opinion needs to be behind it, but really struggling to pay the bills will focus the mind.

With looming power cuts in the UK, and ALL Ireland's imported gas coming via the UK, I think the Irish government must, at some point, realise the inevitable - that Inishkea has to be allowed to proceed. It's just a matter of time.
