Chrome production for the quarter is actually very good, it exceeds the target that they had originally set, with Thutse now operating at capacity and delivering an extra 50,000 tonnes / quarter of chrome concentrate. By my calculations we should now be generating about US$8 million in earnings from chrome. That means the extra module at US$6 million can easily be paid off within 3 months from current operations. Adding the extra module will increase capacity by another ~200,000 tonnes / year, which would mean earnings in the region of US$10-11 million / quarter from chrome (assuming concentrate prices remain as stable as they have been for the last 3 quarters).
Presumably the same problems at South African ports in getting things into the country apply equally in getting things (such as chrome concentrate) out of the country. This may explain why the price of chrome concentrate has remained so stable for so long when usually it tends to be quite volatile.
PGM production not bad, there may be some delay between increased chrome concentrate production and increased PGM production. Target remains 42,000 PGM ounces so we should see a step up in the next quarter if we are to meet that.
Roan, obviously disappointing to see yet more delays but at least we are still producing albeit at a reduced rate. Production rates of "in excess of 600 copper units per month" (what is a copper unit? I guess this is something to do with combined oxide and sulphide concentrates?). Once the electrical component has been installed that should increase to in excess of 1,000 "tonnes" per month. If we achieve this then the copper target is more than achievable.
What we don't know is how much of the concentrate produced at Roan is oxide for cathode production and how much is sulphide for onward sales.
There's no indication if the new front end is still in South Africa or has been transported to Roan and awaiting this missing part?
Project Monkoyo still in development, need to define the resource before design and implementation of the processing module. First production expected early CY25.
The Mufulira project set to start after DD completed and SPV signed (expected end of January). Hopefully more news to follow once that is completed.
No mention at all of progress with the bulk pilot plant for the tailings solution in partnership with Draslovka. I guess we have to assume the trials are still ongoing but it would have been good to get some kind of update on that.
