So much buying of stock from the illustrious Woodford and the ensuing decline in the stock price. Clearly, something is amiss here. What is the fair value of this company? According to some (invested?) posts on this discussion board is ranks higher. Time will tell if it goes up (presumably on the above inverted logic, as a result of mass selling of stock) or down (people start selling and the aforementioned logic kicks in and its all buy, buy, buy a la Woodford.

Perhaps when all these delusion Brexit misfits led by a bunch of failed politicians are a lot poorer then they'll wake up to the reality that what the market wants, the market gets. And no crippled Tory party is going to change that. As Thatcher once said, 'You can't buck the market.' And if markets represent realism as well as greed, then one way or another, backdoor of slyly, the UK will remain anchored to the EU one way or another.

I don't see any evidence here whatsoever for a recovery. And no one who runs this ship seems to really care over the share price. Clearly, there is no longer any bonus to be had by management in driving the price higher.

A final question before I quit for the day: Do you honestly believe anyone will, or can, deliver you the Brexit you wish for? Say Rees-Mogg was PM. If you went against the powers that be, markets alone would crash sterling. If Farage came along, business, the media and just about everyone would cut him to pieces. I agree with you 100 percent on this point - the only way that full Brexit will ever be carried out is via a nationalist government. The establishment that run the show (what the Americans call the deep state) don't give a hoot about the popular will or democracy. They have long range planning for the country and that consists of an ever larger population, irrespective of the burden on the rest of us. Moreover, who voted to save the corrupt bankers who crashed our economy? We will pay for their greed and skulduggery for the next 100 years. No one of them when to prison or suffered in the least. Sovereignty is play acting nonsense in this context.Look around you. Who would have imaged 30 years ago the circus we have in this country. Teresa May asked voters in the general election (that she opportunistically called after promising otherwise) lost her majority. Her manifesto was to pursue a Brexit as per the Lancaster House 'red lines'. She can claim that she did not get a majority in parliament (let alone a majority of the votes in our first-past-the-post system) then the voters rejected her promises. The general election fleshed out what she would do. The referendum was all a game of bluster, threats, scaremongering and lies from both sides. Bottom line: common sense, business, reality and the establishment will not allow the nation's interest to flounder or be undermined by a one-off vote full of emotion, a murder (Joe Cox) and rampant speculation. The referendum was all about one issue really - immigration. Leave the EU and fewer EU immigrants will arrive, and more from South East Asia. Immigration is going to continue no matter what the leavers think. It was, and is, a total con. A lie. A massive lie and a fraud full of slogans. Your only choice is choose the least worse outcome. And that is staying in the EU, or close i.e. the Norway model.

But then as a country we have to discuss if we want to keep the NHS, and large defence budget and overseas aid budget, and the UN commitments and the overseas bases. We can cut taxes if we trim these kinds of services. Rees Mogg want a kind of American system with Healthcare effectively privatised, the benefits system greatly pruned back. We will have to be more like the USA but without the benefit if the US dollars reserve currency status. We'll be more exposed to global forces, and our bargaining position will not be that strong. We won't be a high wage, high skill economy but a very polarized one, like the USA is, with a wealthy top ten percent and the rest kind of getting by. What you wish to create should have been done during the 1970s, and 1980s. But we opted to scrap a large part of our industrial base. Training for non existent jobs would be a waste of time and, most sadly, as I witnessed first hands, too many of us Brits just wanted to get out of industry and manufacturing. The problem is cultural. The country changed. Thatcher was the pivot point. That era decided our fate as a trading nation. And we are where we are.

And as for the railways, who caused that mess? Britain did. Not Johnny foreigner. Not the EU. Britain - we - did! We have to have realistic and face facts. The establishment cannot allow the UK to slip into mediocrity as it will lose its status on too many fronts. Common sense, business, the establishment and realism must and will prevail.

It is not about big business, it's about having unlimited access to a big market. Why you suppose Honda, Toyota, Nissan set up here? Because it was in the EU. And I assure you that I audited, and wound up many solvent companies with good equipment whose owners just wanted to get out of industry and manufacturing. Our record as a nation for technical and industrialist training is appalling. We let them go and they ain't coming back. We are a nation of business schools and accounts (like me!) and lawyers. The country decided it wanted out of industry and opted into services. It ain't going back. WE will go high tack but with robotics ( and we are way behind on that front). Sure, it would be great if we still had the industrial base and we invested in industry instead of banking and bankrupting the country saving the conmen and frauds of Natwest and Blackrock. But that's what we as a country did. We are where we are and have to make the best of it. We are never going to compete in the sectors we let go. We have to move to high tech and ultra high teach, and the rest is services. And that will takes at least a generation but the supply chains are global. The UK does not manufacture micro-chips. ARM (which was sold off the the Japanese) was a design outfit, manufacturing was done overseas. We have to be realistic. Britain can thrive but it needs, and wants, weight and leverage. And it can only get that with scale, and size. It must be part of something bigger. Become the 51st state of the USA or stay in the EU.

I'm an accountant, and the number of solvent companies that were wound up by their owners so they could play the stock market (like us) during the Thatcher ear was incredible. I oversaw so many of them. And then all the equipment auctioned off and shipped overseas! Sure, the unions played their part, but Thatcher passed legislation and created a climate where is was so damn easy to wind up your company, sack employees, and move to Spain or play the stock market, as many of them did. Like I said, Britain, be it the unions, Tories and Labour, created our own problem. It was not the EU. No one forced us to nationalise or denationalise. Look at the state of the railways. And who sold the family silver to overseas concerns. Britain can't go back. t has to move forward. And leaving the EU is not taking the country forwards. Common sense, business and the establishment will prevail. Brexiteers will grumble and groan, but they'll just have to get used to it because there is far too much at stake.

The UK has suffered years of austerity, why? Banking stock markets and finance - the key skills that underpin a significant part of what the UK is good at. The EU had nothing to do with it. Who crushed our industrial base? The Tories under Thatcher. Not the EU. Britain created its own problems, they arr of our making. Do we really need to spend £100 billion on 4 nuclear subs, and how are they going to be paid for is the economy suffers? Higher taxes. And the UK's UN seat, with all the prestige (and expense). This has nothing to do with the EU. Ranting and raving about how we are going to make trade deals with all and sundry is an illusion.The US wants to flood us with cheap chlorinated chicken and GM foods. look how the hammered the Canadians. The indians want to send us people and sell cheap medicines. Britain need leverage and weight - this is the establishment's mindset. They are not willing to let that go because part of the population is having a fit over Brexit. And where is the queue of other countries gasping to leave the EU? Britain will be reduced to little England, and that would be a terrible shame. You can push back against the EU. Poland and Hungary are, so can the UK. Common sense, and the establishment, will prevail. Either we keep a seat at the table and help make the rules, or be a 'vassal' state like Norway and simply take them.

My response back is the following - on the basis of Churchill's mantra, the majority of MPs are therefore deemed to have no brain (the majority of Tory MPs, in their considered view, feel that leaving the EU is a gross error with multiple ramification for the status of the UK). As for the young tending towards the left, then it would appear that all labor and lib dem and green voters are under 25 years old! Implausible, as this is the majority. The Conservatives are not a majority, as our first past the post voting systems awards the prize of government to the party with the most seats. Also, the majority of Scots, and Northern Irish voted remain. We risk pull the UK apart, leaving a rump England which is a far cry from the dreams of Britannia of yore. My feeling is business will always win out. And anything that harms the UK economy, and it's foreign policy status (seat at the UK, overseas military bases, etc). These are subjects for government to determine. Churchill, in 1940, rightly chose war than making a false peace with Nazi Germany. Had he held a referendum, the people would have voted for peace. What kind of world would we be living in now. Rees Mogg, Johnson et al and their merry band are way past their use-by date. If the UK were on a larger scale, like say had an industrial base like Japan, then quitting the EU would be understandable. But we are a medium sized European services economy. Suez was a wake up call. It's time for the Brexiteers to cull their fantasies, and wake up. There is too much as stake here. Common sense will in the end prevail.

A question: What is the point in Brexit given that when the young people in say a generation's time, come into full prominence and reverse Brexit and likely sign up to the Euro and Schengen, given this will happen, what's the point of leaving? In my experience only a fool defines the young. They have time on their side. The only rational course, surely, is to find a way to make the EU work, and reform it from within. Why bother with something that will be totally undo in 20 years time? People have to cool down and be rational. Put the country''s interests first, not blind stubornness.

It's surely self-evident that the CEO couldn't care less about the share price. By inspection, then, there is no difference to this guy or his team if it slips all the way down to 130. Because they don't care, it will have to drop a whole lot more before I'd take a long position.
