Not really a gamble for the big boys - they take a much longer view and to buy into a quality firm like CARD at a 75% discount is a no brainer for the BB - especially when the CV pandemic will be almost gone in 6 months time when all the SPs across the FTSE will rocket upwards - big profits to be made - but even the BB make mistakes - The Sage of Omaha Warren Buffett admits to selling all his airline shares recently at a fifty BILLION loss! Wost investment I ever made ! Makes my £7 loss this year look quite small - LOL

It all depends what the Market Mafia decide to do to the SP - long ago I stopped applying business logic to SPs - as Vince Cable said ten years ago "The Stock Market is no longer a safe place for private investors to put their money - it is a sleazy casino run by shady characters whose only aim is to part investors from their life savings" But if you are in the right place at the right time and are not too greedy you can make some good profits - like today

With some companies a Trading Update - even if it has good news in it - crashes the SP but looking back over CARD TUs they seem to do OK on the SP. I hope tomorrow's news boosts our SP again. Most big companies now seem to be on the up with hopes for a return to more normal life post CV pandemic on the horizon.

Plan looking good - max SP about 200p in last 12 months so lots of headroom to grow. Expect an upsurge in card sales when CV19 pandemic is over - also ongoing birthdays etc I am holding longer term - end of year should be a much higher SP

The six month moratorium on paying debts like mortgage - bank loans - rent etc and the almost zero interest rate on borrowing is leaving millions of people with a sudden rush of unexpected short term cash. Last year we spent about four billion a month on foreign holidays ! Sunak is keeping 4 billion each month in the UK now - I am 74 years old and have lots of peers who are determined to go back on cruises and sun safaris as soon as the CV disaster is over - Autumn and Winter holidays are now being booked up and as soon as BOJO declares the end of isolation TUI SP will leap back up

GL all - roller coaster will continue as the Market Mafia pump and dump SPs to make their daily cost of thin gruel but IMO now is the time for longer term holding on your shares to make good profits at the year end

Last Wednesday we hit these levels and next day the SP went up 24% !!! Lets hope history will repeat itself soon

once we get that magic RNS saying "Cinema doors open all round the world" the SP will rocket upwards 150p easily achieved by end year IMO

Jai - I am 74 and like you i came back into the market this year to gamble and hopefully not lose too much cash ! I was doing well until I broke my own rule of NOT buying oil shares - my old favourite from better times was PMO which made me quite a good profit - however I bought in the day before the incredible flash crash in oil futures and lost £2300 - always take your own advice !!!! I am only in CINE now and was doing OK but got hit with many others on the Friday plunge - still holding and expecting a really good few weeks of steady increase in SP - maybe Trump will will keel over with the drugs he is taking or when he gargles with bleach - LOL The whole world would rejoice if only "Hitler" Trump would just disappear and stop destroying world trade

I have stopped day trading due to the Market Mafia pumping and dumping SPs for no logical reason other than that they can do it II - making huge profits for the big boys on a daily basis. Recent pump and dump for me was on AML - up nearly 20% dumped to about 4% - sold out and lost £1K on the deal - now on the sidelines till some sanity comes back to the SM - swings of 10% or 20% daily on the FTSE 350 companies are crazy - expected on AIM shares but not on "gilt edged companies"

Stuart - the latest on the Remdesivir drug for CV published today by Gilead Sciences says that it does work to counteract CV problems but works best in the early stages of the disease - so early testing of everyone possible is vital. I think that this news has prompted a lot of upswing in the SM combined with a big leap in WTI and Brent oil prices. I am still holding for the 120p +++ and hoping for 150 to 180p by year end. Of interest - some friends of ours paid extra to return to UK from South Africa recently - no health checks at the airport and no lockdown info given - our govt has now repatriated 200 thousand people from Spain also with no health checks - Spain has a 10% CV death rate at the mo so there must be thousands of carriers of CV in that 200 thousand repatriated UK citizens - the Chief Health adviser says it is not necessary to test returning UK citizens ! How on earth did such a fool get that job ?

Some years ago I listened to the derampers who said "tomorrow's report will crash the SP" - to be safe I sold out to wait and see what happened - the SP went UP 18% and although I did not lose by being safe I also missed out on the 18% rise ! Yesterday I held onto my shares and once again BARC is roaring upwards ! I learnt from my mistake last time.
