So many misleading reports being published about the interest in the take up of renewable projects, but the fact that these tenders are having to constantly be extended speaks volumes!!!

Political parties to take decision unless polls roadmap announced by March: BNP

BNP Standing Committee Member Salauddin Ahmed has urged Prof Muhammad Yunus, chief of the interim government, to announce the roadmap of the 13th parliamentary election by this month.

“We will take our political decision unless the government announces the election roadmap by this month,” he said while addressing a programme held at the Institution of Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh in Dhaka on Saturday.

Yunus has only got himself to blame!!!

Bangladesh’s energy transition came to an abrupt stop with the country’s interim government struggling to find investors in renewable energy projects.

After assuming power following the fall of the Awami League regime amid a mass uprising in July-August, the interim government cancelled all 31 renewable energy projects in the pipeline with a combined capacity of over 2,600MW.

Investors are apparently unwilling to invest in Bangladesh now,’ he said.

Cancellation of the previous renewable energy projects, some of which involved foreign investors such as Marubeni Corporation, Total Gas, and Engreen Limited, caused trust issues, highlighting uncertainties in doing business in Bangladesh, energy experts said.

The foreign investors had spent millions, some of them $200 million, and over half a decade of their time in advancing their projects that were eventually cancelled.

Nice £10,000 buy to finish the week off ….

The more I look at this article and think about the seminar the more positive I feel about the future of Phulbari mining and GCM, but the trouble is right now is that we are in a catch 22 position and that’s why we are not seeing an increase in trading….

In the article it states that these recommendations would be put in place for the next government to take forward and sadly won’t be taken forward by the interim government, but that’s no great surprise I guess, and then we all know that at some point in the coming months we will have a fund raise so that means unless we have some substantial new news that indicates that the project may move forward before hand, I don’t think that we will have any real movement in the SP now until after the fundraising….

But it is great to see and think that after all these years things, may finally be about to move forward …

It’s so good to read some talking sense and being realistic about the future of coal in Bangladesh, and seeing Phulbari being mentioned so much as well as shouting the fact that Phulbari is the only coal field that’s ready to move forward and could be producing within 2 to 3 years if given the green light NOW!!!

This has to be the most positive seminar and article written for sometime …..

Don’t say I didn’t warn you: Is Bangladesh Army Chief General Zaman hinting at a military intervention

The experts however feel that there is likely to be a military intervention soon. Not only is the violence not subsiding, but Yunus has devious plans to remain in power and make his students’ wing the decision makers.

Now taking all these developments into account and the manner in which Bangladesh is turning more and more radical Islamist by the day, the statements by the army chief makes sense. He is clearly indicating that the mudslinging and the decisions that are being made are threatening national security. For now the army chief would wait and watch and if things turn even worse, then one can expect a military intervention in Bangladesh soon.

BNP warns against any attempt at election manipulation, threatens mass protests

Dhaka, Feb 26 (SocialNews.XYZ) Khalida Zia’s Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) on Wednesday issued a warning to the interim government under Mohammad Yunus and other political parties in Bangladesh not to tamper with the national elections. They claimed any tactics to postpone national elections in the guise of reforms would lead to intensified protest movements.

The BNP is in opposition to holding local elections before the national elections. The party stated any move to hold local elections beforehand would create a nationwide atmosphere of conflict.

EC Commissioner: We are ready to hold parliamentary elections in December

The Election Commission (EC) is making preparations for the national parliamentary elections, targeting December, according to Election Commissioner Anwarul Islam Sarker.

He said: "We are completing all necessary preparations for December. We are ready. We hope to hold the parliamentary elections in December."

He made this statement on Wednesday during a discussion meeting at the conference hall of the Munshiganj deputy commissioner's office.

When asked about local government elections, the election commissioner said: "Holding local government elections would take a year. In that case, it would not be possible to hold the parliamentary elections within our announced timeline for December. That is why we are prioritizing the national elections first."
