Yunus visit to China - 28th March16 Mar 2025 13:23
Just some thoughts and observations, trying to link some of the pieces together that I thought I’d share about the coming weeks, and previous news that we have already had, that may help this project come to fruition sooner than we anticipate due to being a greener option than importing coal and me thinking that Yunus would obviously like to go out on a high, and be remembered for something positive, rather than the shambles and mess he has made with most of his other policies, and the rest of the country ….
- The Interim Government as we know from the recent seminar on Bangladesh using its own coal have now agreed that Open Pit Mining at Phulbari should be given the go ahead by the next government! (or will it be Yunus 🤔)
- GCM will install a solar power park at Phulbari potentially be able to produce 2000mw, although the RNS on the 28th Jan states “of up to 4500MW,” this is massive and must be a positive for Yunus and his green policy’s
- The country can no longer afford to continue to import coal, and even though Yunus and the interim government has tried every other way possible not to, they have now finally come to terms with this fact
- No country or company has so far taken up any of the tenders for any of the solar park projects that the IG have wanted to give the green light too.
- Gas is running out in Bangladesh, and although they are trying to drill more wells, this will of course all take time.
- The Tesla River project is now being muted that it will be given to China and not India as Hasina wanted…. From memory, I’m sure this is linked to Phulbari and will be a positive …. Perhaps others can remind me lol
- Because of the terms of the IMF loan, other less efficient power plants will now have to start to close down.
- From the seminar, it was reported that there is already $15b investment from unnamed mining co guaranteed (probably PC) again, Yunus must be looking at that and seriously thinking about what a difference that would make to the country!
The list is endless of reasons to mine Phulbari sooner really, but above are just a few positive points, and my reason for thinking, that although I’m sure with the Yunus visit on the 28th to China, there will be other MoU’s signed, for solar power plants etc, I’m also now starting to think that Phulbari could now be on the agenda, so that as I say, Yunus can go out on a high!! 🤷♂️
Nar, surely not 😂😂
