Akhtar: Awami League will not be allowed to engage in politics again

Akhtar Hossain, general secretary of the National Citizen Committee, said on Sunday that the Awami League, despite facing no legal barrier to contest elections, will not be allowed to engage in politics in Bangladesh.

He emphasized the party’s fascist and genocidal history, saying that if necessary, his group is prepared to shed blood once again to prevent the Awami League's political rehabilitation.

ACC launches probe into $300 million laundering by Hasina, Joy

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has launched an investigation into allegations that ousted dictator Sheikh Hasina and her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy laundered $300 million, equivalent to over Tk357 crore, to the US and UK.

ON Sunday, ACC Deputy Director Akhtarul Islam confirmed the matter to a front-line Bangla newspaper.

BNP seeks election in ‘three to four months’

The BNP has demanded the 13th parliamentary election by completing the reform within three to four months, opposing the decision of door-to-door data collection to update the voter list.

The party came up with the demand from a media briefing at its office in Dhaka’s Gulshan on Monday, a day after Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus’s message of "election after major reforms" at a meeting with an IMF advisor.

I’m guessing this is because the government will want the tenders to be as cheap as possible, but the companies run the risk of not being paid for months on end!

Offshore oil, gas exploration: No foreign Cos submit tenders

According to sources at the Petrobangla, US-based multinational gas and oil companies ExxonMobil Corporation and Chevron Corporation, Malaysia’s PETRONAS Chemicals Group, Norwegian-France joint venture TGS-Schlumberger, Japanese firm Inpex Corporation and Japan Organization for Metals and Energy Security (JOGMEC), China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC), Singapore-based KrisEnergy, India’s Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Crude have shown interest at various times and have contacted Petrobangla. Of them, ExxonMobil, Chevron, Inpex and JOGMEC purchased data on multidimensional surveys, but none of them participated in tenders.
