I really don’t understand anymore what Yunus is up too, not just for Phulbari, but even how he is running the country…

All he is doing is swanning around the world with that bloody smug look on his face acting like everything is okay, when actually the whole country is in a complete mess and falling apart… There are numerous articles out at the moment that show this… today for example 6 garment factories close due to unrest … that’s 14,000 jobs with people out of work and unpaid for work they have done.. they can not afford for this to happen!!

Does he not understand that the whole country is going to come to a grinding stop unless he solves the energy problems!!!

He seems to be worrying about the smaller short term issues rather than looking at the longer term future and outlook…

Never mind thinking that he may be in power in another 12 months… He needs to be gone in a few weeks / months at the latest, or there will no country left for the next government to run!! 🤷‍♂️

They are totally stuffed! Is it even to late for Phulbari to help the country out of its suffering and to rescue their energy situation 🤷‍♂️

No Power Supply If Dues Not Settled By November 7: Adani To Bangladesh

After slashing the power supply to Bangladesh over non-payment of dues, Adani Power has set a deadline of Nov 7 to switch off the flow of electricity if there is no clarity on settlement of the outstanding amount that adds up to almost $850 million (around Rs 7,200 crore).

Handling of coal from unloading the fuel from the ship to carrying it along the 25 meter conveyer belt involves no covering at all, releasing coal ash into the air and river, endangering bio-diversity and ecology, the report of the assessment conducted between February and April said.

Facilities such as coal-shed, coal stack yard and ash silo are not yet finished as per the plan. As a result, the environment is being polluted and evidence found during the assessment indicates increases in the concentration of total dissolved solids in water and pollutants such as mercury, nitrate and phosphate levels in some of the study areas.

Ever since its construction, Bangladesh could not use even half of the plant’s capacity because of fuel crisis and technical glitches. The power plant gets over Tk 2,000 crore as capacity charge.

2 vessels collide in Mongla port's Pashur Channel, fisherman reportedly missing

A coal-laden vessel collided head-on with a large vessel carrying liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in the Pashur Channel of Mongla Port in Bagerhat yesterday (1 November), leaving a fisherman missing.

According to the Coast Guard, the accident occurred around midnight near Karomjol area in the Pashur Channel when the coal-laden vessel named "MV Mizan", carrying 500 tonnes of coal collided head-on with the large vessel named "MV Era Star" coming from the opposite direction.

Coal crisis halts production at Matarbari power plant

Due to a coal shortage, both units of the Matarbari coal-fired power plant in Maheshkhali, Cox's Bazar, have been shut down since last Thursday.

The 1,200MW power plant, entirely reliant on coal imports, has faced setbacks due to mismanagement, corruption, and legal complications, despite being a debt-dependent mega-project established during the Awami League government’s tenure.

Power outage leaves St Martin’s Island in darkness, thousands suffering

A prolonged power outage has plunged thousands of residents of Saint Martin's Island in Teknaf upazila of Cox's Bazar into darkness, leaving the islanders struggling without electricity since Friday evening.

Blue Marine Energy Limited, the island’s power provider, attributed the outage to a technical issue with the token recharge software server of the solar projects managed by Scoop Technology Limited in Bangladesh.

Meanwhile, the Matarbari power plant is closed due to a lack of coal, and production has decreased at the Rampal and Banshkhali power plants due to outstanding issues. There was a load shedding of over 1,500 megawatts per hour on Thursday.

According to sources from the Power Development Board (PDB), the 1,320 MW power plant at Payra in Patuakhali is charging USD 75 per tonne of coal. In contrast, the coal prices at Chattogram’s Banshkhali SS Power Plant and Bagerhat’s Rampal Power Plant are both under USD 80 per tonne.

Adani, however, is requesting USD 96 per tonne of coal, which is USD 16-21 more per tonne than the prices at Payra and Rampal.
