“China provides $550 million in loan assistance for the restoration of the Teesta River — giving new momentum to the country’s largest river management project.”

The economic ties between Bangladesh and China are being further strengthened through the Teesta River Integrated Management and Restoration Project. Of the total project cost of around $750 million, China is providing $550 million in loan assistance.

Implemented under the Ministry of Water Resources by the Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB), the project aims to reclaim and develop 171 square kilometers of land. Experts say that once completed, the project will bring a major transformation to agriculture, transportation, and economic activities in the northern region.

Bangladesh's non-coking coal imports stood at 1.82 mnt in Sep'25, registering a significant 37.5% growth from 1.32 mnt in Aug. On a y-o-y basis, imports increased by 149% from 0.73 mnt in Sep. Indonesia remained the dominant supplier in Sep, exporting 1.58 mnt, up 30.5% m-o-m, followed by South Africa which supplied 0.24 mnt.

Just posting some thoughts, why I am wasting my time I do not know, because I do expect the post to be deleted….

A few weeks back, I was talking to a friend of mine who used to work on the London Stock Exchange, and GCM came up in conversation. I said to him, that there had been lots of talk on the boards about institutions starting to buy, now that the project looked a lot more promising and the market cap was above 20 million.

His reply was, that although that may be amazing for the company and share price long term, short term there would be much pain, and that you won’t like watching what will happen, I asked him to expand, so he then explained about manipulation with the SP and that no one would be able to explain what was happening …

Since then (and I’m sorry to mention it lol) but we have had the 1 share trader, I obviously appreciate others views, but I don’t believe it is just someone who is bored, and I do think there is more to it, than meets the eye, but I have no explanation what, then we have had constant deletion of posts on the chat boards, that reflect particular subjects, Fridays was China’s positive involvement within the country, and then we have had what seems like SP manipulation…

Conclusion –

It may well be that with 8p being a SP year high, is just proving to be a tough nut to crack, but personally, especially with the news flow we have had, I am now more convinced than ever that this is the reason……

This is another more detailed article about the IMF, I may be wrong, and I can’t find the article right now, but I am sure that I read sometime back that one of the IMF conditions on their loan, was that Bangladesh had to reduce the amount of debt that they had outstanding for importing energy, and that it also had to reduce their dependency on importing fuels…..

I was just thinking about Friday, and the fact that even though much of what was said and posted, apart from the odd post, weee on topic and in some way, we’re mostly talking about the way China and Bangladesh are working together, this was confirmed with a few Bangla press articles, all of which along with in total 19 posts were deleted / removed.

One of the posts that was of interest was the post from doze, I did read it because I had not refreshed my screen, but noted that because of its sensitive topic it was deleted within a couple of minutes of it being posted….

It was a very cryptic post, and now that it’s the weekend, so the conversation won’t be deleted, I was wondering if there’s any chance that doze would be happy to expand on the post??

Khaleda, Tarique to jointly helm BNP for 13th general election

BNP will take part in the upcoming 13th national election under the joint leadership of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman.

Khaleda Zia, though unable to lead directly in the field due to illness, is guiding the party in policy-making, said party sources adding that she may give virtual speeches during some election campaigns.

Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman is leading the party from the grassroots to the highest level from abroad. BNP leaders say he will return to the country soon to lead the election campaign, but no date has been confirmed.

BNP International Affairs Secretary Rashedul Haque returning home after 10 years

After nearly 10 years abroad, Rashedul Haque, the international affairs secretary of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), is set to return home on Sunday morning (5 Oct).

He is scheduled to arrive at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka around 11am, confirmed Shayrul Kabir Khan, a member of the BNP Media Cell.

Party sources said that Rashedul Haque, a former leader of the Dhaka University unit of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, has been based in Australia, where he has engaged in various diplomatic and political activities on behalf of the BNP.

Rashedul began working as a member of the BNP’s Foreign Affairs Committee in 2019, later serving as assistant international affairs secretary in 2022, and was elevated to international affairs secretary in 2024.

He also serves as the special assistant for foreign affairs to BNP’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman.
