Nice article on Trinidad energy in NEWSDAY TT about taking advantage of shifts in natural gas and especially LNG. They mention that new finds by Touchstone (and others) will not be sufficient. True enough if they don't get them hooked up to the pipelines they are sitting next to.

The question of the follow up Coho well is important. They came right out and said the Coho development well was "scheduled". But that means it is on a calendar with a date. If not, then it is not scheduled. I think what they were saying is "we plan to do it and we wish it was scheduled but it is not."{

That piece is 4:44 long. At 3:05 Katie asks what is the agenda (for coming quarter). He talks about RNS to detail the results of the recent 2-D seismic. Then at 3:48 he talks about expectation they will announce "an MOU with a big provider".

I listened to it again and he said "with a big provider" and not "with a major producer" as I said before. I am sorry. So it could still be a deal with a big drill company but to me if that was the case that would be more a contract with some options (like last year with Mitchell) and not an MOU.

A "big provider" could be a company that has drilling and production capability, which is what I thought he was getting at.

I agree it was no mistake to pick Mitchell. A quick discovery (that seemed likely) and proving it commercial and they would have been able to quickly form a favorable partnership. Or push ahead on our own as people kept flocking to them to try to make deals.

Any well can have well bore-trouble, especially an exploration well in unknown geology with likely in retrospect the wrong rig (a smaller bore mineral rig). But it all should have worked and they were celebrating success right as all the technical trouble put an end to the party.

But they have regrouped, and certainly I had long period to build my position and it is now double what is was last summer while they were drilling their FIRST exploration well. Second and third exploration wells will also be exciting.

Ratio of reward to risk seems favorable. That's all you can ask in a speculative high risk/high reward issue. You don't get the possibility of big reward without accepting significant risk. Otherwise financial advisers would be touting this as a safe and secure can't miss investment, and they would lose their licenses.

It is a LOT different to say:

"We will have a MOU for a partnership with a major producer..." (that is early 2022, a few days ago)

Than it was to say:

"We have a contract with Mitchell Drilling to drill 2-3 wells and they have agreed to take stock options in lieu of cash for a possible additional well, if warranted.... " (That was early 2021).

These two things are NOT THE SAME.

There are usually 3 or 4 companies presenting for 30 minutes. In this case TXP is presenting third so PB will begin about 7 pm or 1 pm CST in US. I have listened to almost all of these live and I enjoy it. You watch the questions on the screen and you can enter your own questions real time. They do not get to all the questions but they often do a follow-up 5-10 minute segment within a day or two.

They are focused on an oil and gas rig to drill two or three deep wells, hopefully targeting traps below the thick upper Karoo claystone seal. Depth of these reservoirs around 1000 metere. One of those will be at the TAI structure. That failed (was not a discovery) because technical bore hole reasons, not for geologic reason. If the find a conventional reservoir with a good seal and has right porosity, permeability and pressure to produce commercially, then they know exactly what kind of plant to buy and how to transport helium to Dar Es Saalam

The drilling of a few holes into these shallow structures in the lake bed within a few hundred meters of surface is a a bit of a side trip, very interesting but they would have better define and test them and figure out how long and at what volume they would flow and what kind of strategy they should use to use to produce them commercially. I am all for this, it is cheap, it is interesting, it could possibly lead to production quickly. But they also have to keep laser focused on best path to commercial discovery and production and sales.

I think they need a second pad and then a short pipeline connector for Coho2. Might not be instant gratification. Unless the new rig can directionally drill off that pad, but I do not think that is what they plan.

This is one of the longer presentations I think and not one of the 4-5 minute blurbs .They often have an on-line Q and A messaging part and then Paul sometimes follows up with a short response to questions they did not get to, sometimes within a day or two.

Sometimes they update the corporate presentation before these longer presentations.

Did not mention any shallow drilling which is a little odd with the new satellite survey results released today which were all about identifying (combine with other input) shallow targets. Did talk about hot spot at Rukwa (like a positive control right) but also another hot spot within current 2D seismic program. And hot spots on the more distant sites that might help plan seismic down the road. That was a little of a distraction because they surely have to let all that sit until they get a discovery and the finances are a lot different. David should not have said "we are not a one trick pony" because we are all hoping Rukwa is more than a pony and that we are on a path to a discovery well in 2022 and a solid plan to put in a modular production facility in 2023. Along the way will be planning, well plans for 2022 campaign, contracts for drilling, testing if a discovety, maybe some partners after discovery, moving forward on production. All that makes for a lot more than a pony.

I'm not sure now if there are still plans for any shallow wells with water rig in next few months as he did not mention that in his timeline.

Good work on Helium1 - is is a great speculative investment and you have a great entry price. I have great hopes that it will prove out and move 10 fold or more from current price over next 12 months. That could happen. It could also go to zero but to me that seems a lot less likely and therein lies the beauty of a speculative stock.

But if you are losing on everything else you might want to diversify a bit. It has been very hard not to make money in stocks during the last 18 months. It would have been hard to consciously avoid all winners. Now that is changing right now as market breadth narrowing. We all have to be careful out there, as they used to say on Hill Street Blues.

I know it doesn't matter in big picture. I'll try not to mention it again. I just got triggered by that Stockwatch Energy piece. JW may even be a nice guy for all I know. Just was a difficult and painful episode.

I listened so carefully to the presentations and every Q and A on all the quarterly calls. A lot of reassurances about cash flow easily covering debt maintenance. I was flabbergasted when they went BK (admittedly they were not the only one at that time) but then the same principals showed up running the new private company (okayed by the courts) coming out of bankruptcy. I didn't even know that could happen. I have paid a LOT more attention to loan covenants since then, so I guess it was all part of my education. Like a year at Harvard in terms of cost.
