Fare comment red. I imagine some of your questions go unanswered simply because there is no one reading that knows 100% for sure the answer and can back that up with any proof.
What I would say to answer the whole project is this. The guys at phe will be fully aware of what they are and are unable to proceed with, and along with that what they need to prove/demonstrate in order to comply with whatever regulations they will be governed by.
Now I don't know, but it could well be that it is the same as what happens elsewhere and that a scaled model, created in the exact same way, using the exact same materials and operating / withstanding the same forces is acceptable?
But I don't know if that is the case, looking at say the construction of bridges for example,. I've seen many a "how do they do that" programme where before going full scale a model is made to measure forces and prove structural integrity etc
Not saying it's the same, but it's possibly a similar scenario. I'm thinking about say the nuclear industry, much more hazerdous than a kiln. I don't for one minute think that Windscale was tested after construction to prove it's safety. I'd think more likely whatever tech / material / structure/ control or operating system involved would be approved for use based on tests along the way?
