Like it or not we’re all going to have to wait this one out and see what happens. AB certainly doesn’t seem to be in any rush to make an announcement but he’s raised expectations to some degree, depending on what you thought the company would deliver this year. I agree with Daz and don’t buy into the holiday reasoning either. I don’t think ExE has been played to death as it’s still developing and who knows, maybe some of our orders will come from companies closely monitoring the system’s performance at races, and they’ll continue to do so. So, it’s still about converting enquiries into orders; but I’m wondering about their strategy i.e. as we push towards Q4 there could be a great deal to announce or it’s a dud (which I find hard to accept).
Up a bit, down a bit, it’s all largely irrelevant if you’re looking at the bigger picture. Like many I’m slightly frustrated at what looks to be a media blackout, but that’s because we all know that things are in the pipeline. This isn’t some hooky company, it’s a proper outfit with some rather good people at the helm. It’s not as though AFC want to sit on news because they want us to squirm, so I must accept it’s because a) they can’t say much or b) they don’t have a firm order. There aren’t too many options to choose from.
I’ll keep doing what my head tells me to do, which is watch and hold, and I’m not worried either.
curlyputt, on 1st July ABB announced a contract to charge a bus fleet in Qatar, which included four mobile charging stations which can be taken to alternative locations. Sounds like they’d be AFC systems but there’s no RNS yet. Either it’s not us or AFC are able to sit on the info.
The market has been spooked by Covid. People worrying whether the recovery will take longer if cases rise, but it’s here to stay so we’re going to have to learn to cope. Fundamentals still strong with AFC even if things are choppy for a while.
Aimmillionaire,
whilst I’m not concerned about the share price, I would like to see improvement re comms, especially in light of the 50 potential order announcement. Instagram needn’t look cheap or desperate, similarly fb and twitter. At some point AFC are going to confirm orders and I’m happy with that.
Let’s say for example that they supply the Eden Project or Glastonbury with a few units; does anyone expect them to just release an RNS or would they make the most of these high profile customers and say it loudly across social media? I’d hope they’d do all of this. For that reason I see no harm in starting now. It probably won’t win a contract but it won’t do any harm and attracts coverage in the local or national news.
I cannot accept that someone at AFC isn’t in a position to action this. It costs nothing and takes little time. I don’t think ABB look cheap but they are all over this kind of thing.
1johntique,
I agree that the dip is across the board. The SP isn’t my concern but some news is. The price will tick back up when the time is right. My opinion (that’s all it is) being that there are things which could be improved upon. Social media isn’t my thing but I use it to keep abreast of developments with AFC and others. Like it or not it’s a useful tool for companies. Patience isn’t the issue either. My point is whether things could be better and improved and I think they could. AFC want to grow their global reach and in this regard they can and should improve by communicating with shareholders. Opinions differ and I’ve never worried about comms in the past, but when something can be improved, it should. ABB are huge and it could be argued that they don’t need to invest their time in fb posts; but they do. They are at the front and always improving.
Something on Twitter or wherever from AFC with the sign off from middle management isn’t a lot to ask.
1johntique, the SP isn’t my concern, although it’s inexorably linked to news flow. I also accept that the dip is affecting the general market. What I find hard to fathom is the complete lack of news in light of ABB’s announcement and that of the ExE guy last week who stated that we were talking to Glastonbury organisers. I don’t often criticise AB but occasionally it’s healthy to think aloud. The news has all been good thus far but I’d still like to see us get across the line with something. A UK or Euro zone distributor would be welcome.
bandicoot,
whilst I agree that Musk is a driving force behind EV’s, I do not think that allowing other companies to offset their carbon footprint via Tesla is particularly sustainable. Similarly, jetting off into space is not the answer to mankind’s problems on earth. The technology may be good, but we’re not going to solve anything unless we learn to address the issues we’ve created. Everyone has a responsibility to the planet, but not everyone can escape the complete and utter mess to chase a fanciful notion of living in space or anywhere else.
Apologies for the rant but you touched a nerve.
MPO,
like Daz it’s the unrelenting negativity which tbh gets on my nerves. Partnerships, ExE, new products, the order book but still you’re unhappy. We’re all waiting for order news but some of us don’t feel compelled to complain constantly. Sit back, relax and wait.
