DBay own the other 51% of Greenwhitestar.

Mark, if they do sell Greenwhitestar, am I right in assuming that 49% of the monies obtained come in to ESL and they then use that money as the basis of funds for the future investment co.? Does that fairly describe the scenario you're hypothesizing? Thanks

Who are 'The Group'? Do they have a name? What do they own? (Want to do some research, but obviously can't just google 'The Group'). Just trying to establish what exactly ESL own 49% of.
Quite heavily invested here, so would appreciate your help.

Interesting that they use the word 'confirm' in that NIHR publication. Makes it sound like they know it works, but just want to confirm it. Quite different from using an expression like "establish if..." for example.

SGD: That's what I thought.
"stopped for overwhelming efficacy" - means it's proved itself so effective that there's no point in continuing the current stage of a trial and therefore it is moved swiftly on to the next stage.

kay786: FTSE 7% up - meaning everybody thinks corona is plane sailing from here, so we don't need the likes of ESL, Ocado etc. anymore. Market will wake up to the reality again soon and ESL will rise.

Mark: Drivers won't be a problem. Until last year I had a special needs minibus company. Half of my drivers had PSV & HGV. All these schools are now being closed. There will be plenty of drivers looking for work whilst schools are closed.

I think you're correct with the 46:1 figure Rastuss...that definitely rings a bell - you have a good memory. I did hold on to my holding (to this day actually)...should have sold them a couple of weeks ago, when they reached close on 50 Rand...back to 37 ish now. There are some similarities here with NMC, with South Africa's PIC underwriting that Lonmin rights issue and the possibility of Mubadala's involvement here...politics in play again! Just hope I'll be fondly recounting the NMC story in a few years time on some other chat-board.

Rastuss: You just reminded me of the last nightmare I had in the stock market. Quite a decision whether to support that last Lonmin rights issue, or just to sack it and take the hit. I went with it in the end and happily (and luckily) the subsequent Sibanye takeover has since mitigated what was at the time a substantial loss (...funnily enough, watching the Plat price fall about 100 points over the last week, or so, brought back some not so fond memories). Think I'd be more comfortable going with a rights issue in NMC's case, with new management, reliable accounts etc. and what appears to be a profitable business. Just hope it's not a one for one, as I'm £90k in here!

So, it follows that DBay effectively owns 51% of ESL (since they own 51% of Greenwhitestar).

Brilliant input TQ. Despite the fact things are out of our hands now, it really helps to read through such an analysis to try to understand the situation, however accurate it turns out to be.

UAE are very keen to attract foreign investment. Surely they wouldn't want to see the shareholders shafted...just wouldn't be good publicity going forward. Wouldn't you think they'd want to protect shareholders as well as the company, to avoid this. Maybe I'm being a bit naive here. I'm £100k in here, so looking for some hope like everybody else.

Sino forest was different, they couldn't see the wood for the trees with that one.
