Old news, lads. This increase to over 6% was reported last week. And as for the article via the link you provided, handyman10, it contradicts itself: an unknown "source" says - Kretinsky had nothing to do with Back's departure; however, a spokesperson for Kretinsky himself declines to comment.

Take your choice. Personally, I think Back went for two reasons:-

1. Enormous mounting pressure off three or four of the biggest shareholders...Kretinsky being the latest.
2. Back's own immediate family: after scurrying home to Zurich his wife would have probably convinced him it was safer and more prudent to get out right now: he was working in the most infected part of the UK; he was in a high risk age group; covid-19 is not going away for a long, long time...and it was therefore not really a question of he MIGHT become infected -- but more like -- just WHEN he became infected!

In short, it was a case of self-preservation...and who can blame him?

And as for what is next? Who knows? But I know this much: this stock has gone from boring, boring, boring and much of the same to -- intriguing! intriguing! and even more intriguing yet!

This is going to get real interesting now. Real interesting indeed...

mad, I have to concede you have being saying for some time now that Rico Back would very soon be gone...it turns out you were 100% correct. A very good prediction -- SPOT ON!!

However, no Tory government is going to be stupid enough to attempt to re-nationalise the Royal Mail. And as there will not be an elected Labour government for at least a decade (more than likely considerably longer) I think we can safely dismiss all talk of this happening for the foreseeable future.

Nope, like it or not, the Royal Mail is now a public company...and for better or worse that is.

The major shareholders have not spent hundreds of millions of pounds to watch not just the dividend being totally wiped out (one of the very reasons, if not the prime reason, they bought into it in the first place) but also their dwindling investment being slowly but irretrievably flushed down the pan.

It is not the CWU that runs this company...it is the board backed by the major shareholders.

You lose the confidence of the major shareholders, as Back most obviously did, and you are finished - toast!

It is the major shareholders who dictate which direction a company is going in...without their support a CEO and his board are in charge of absolutely nothing. Nothing but themselves that is.

Don't think for one minute an aggressive, highly intelligent, superior human being as street-smart as Daniel Kretinsky has bought into Royal Mail on a mere whim hoping to make a quick buck or two.

Well...I, for one, would be extremely surprised if he has.

Absolutely they had a hand in it! It was the CWU that provided the impetus for the actions of these shareholders...obviously.

Regarding my comments: "Time to reflect".

Some of you seemed to have misinterpreted what I was inferring.

I was making the point that, in all likelihood, he was indeed pushed. Better to go "voluntarily" than be sacked at the AGM.

My main questions were: who pushed him (which major shareholders)? And who is now dictating policy?

As for Daniel Kretinsky? Am I supposed to believe it was just purely coincidental that he bought such a large stake in Royal Mail just days before Rico Back is dumped?

Like I mentioned before: No! I don't subscribe to coincidental events...and never will.

As most of you on here, or so it appears to me, cannot join up the dots, I will, therefore, give you my slant on the present situation and state of affairs.

Daniel Kretinsky, having been in talks with a couple of the major shareholders beforehand, then decided to buy into Royal Mail and join forces with these aforementioned investors...and thus begin dictating what will and what won't happen. It is not an attempt at a takeover by one individual...it is an actual takeover in all but name by a group of very powerful shareholders.

Things are going to happen very quickly now. Don't blink...if you do you may very well miss the trick altogether. It is, I believe, known as -- "sleight-of-hand"!

P.s If this is the actual case then God help us posties and the CWU now...because nobody else will.

After all the excitement time to be more subjective.

I have now read three or four independent articles regarding the Rico Back departure...all basically reporting the same thing. I have also just listened to the latest update by the CWU.

It is quite obvious, after posting a 22 million pound decline in comparison to the same month last year, that Back had no other alternative but to go; after all...if we cannot make an increase in profits, even a small one, during an unprecedented time like this, when can we make a profit? He would have realised several weeks ago he was going to have to step down. Quite simply: he just ran out of time. If the modernisation programme could have been started several years earlier, and finished before the onset of this pandemic, he would now be hailed as some kind of genius with the foresight and acumen of Mahatma Gandhi. Sadly, for him, it was not to be. I am quite sure he will ruefully reflect upon a lot of missed opportunities over the coming years.

We are all painfully aware, to our individual cost, that the continued clashing with the union did great damage to his self-portrayed image of former invincibility...and the ever present threat of a huge, damaging strike had been ever hanging over his head further eroding his reputation, but, as of yet, we have not been told who it was that actually "forced" him to step down; it was either that or be unceremoniously dumped at the fast approaching AGM I would have thought.

So then, who pushed Rico? Well the major shareholders I would have thought...and that includes our elusive Polish mate as well.

Do I believe in coincidence? (in connection to a certain big purchase of RMG shares a short while back) No! And I never will.

And who is calling the shots now? I leave that up to each individual person to answer.

Will things change? Doubt it. Are the CWU now dictating how this company will be run? Doubt it.

Are we in for a lot more fireworks? Lol. Like I just commented...you all have your own views on that one.

Intriguing times indeed.

that I have taken lately, and not for the first time I might add, we are now firmly back down in the land of reality.

Until this company starts producing enough gas or oil (or both) in large enough amounts to satisfy the Georgian governments monetary demands, the whopping big salaries of the directors, the tax man and all the share holders invested...then this s.p is never really going anywhere.

And that is despite what the latest 1p invested, self-proclaimed financial geniuses strutting around this board might think.

P.s I have not looked but I will be surprised if somewhere on Blocks site there is not a disclaimer informing investors that when investing in Georgia it is not subject to the normal London Stock Exchange regulations. It is usually the case when investing in ventures like this. In other words: we are investing an in ex Soviet block country still heavily influenced by Russian politics: it carries an inherent risk. The good Lord giveth...and the same old good Lord can just as easily take away. Cheers!

It is not the "making a few quid" I object to, Fuse...it is the strutting and crowing that I find both comical and childish. Like I said: wise after the fact. Any fool can try to appear wise after the fact.

What I would like to see is a little more grown-up discussion based upon cold, hard facts. Not just fanciful assumptions and same old dished-up pie in the sky.

TheRealMaka makes a very valid point: that the cash Block has left is barely enough to cover their current operating costs. Therefore it follows on at some point they are going to need a fund raise. Unless of course they strike it rich in one of their existing projects. Cannot see it myself...can you?

Don't kid yourself into believing just because you get the opportunity to buy into this at one pence coupled with the latest news and pervading feel of enthusiasm and fresh hope that this is some sort of newly reinvented gift horse...because it is not.

It remains what it was...and still is -- a punt! And thats all it it is at present. Just a punt.

Does certainly seem to be an air of optimism pervading this board at the current time...over on the other board also. Could anyone explain the reason(s) why? Obviously there must be something I have missed.
